It depends on how many other people scored higher then you and if they accept the job or not.

I scored like 92 and was called about 3 months later.

Good luck!

lol i got an 81, but i marked disabled on the test. i wonder if that gives me a leg up? same thing as marking black? hispanic? i was born with a birth defect, it stated clearly my issue, distorted or withered limbs with limited mobility. ive got a thing with my left arm, its like 6 inches shorter than the right weaker, and has less mobility. still a good arm dont get me wrong, and actually first time i ever marked something like that in my life. i felt kind of scuzzy doing it, but i didnt finish college and i needed a leg up so i figured wtf.

btw my score was only 81. im a shithead. =-D should be perfect for the postal service ^_^

I got called two years later, but that doesnt matter what you scored. IT al depends on how many people they are hiring. Sometimes they put a freeze on. Lately I think they hire more people to cut down our OT and beacause the new guiys dont wanna piss off the bosses and they will do an 8 hours route in 6 cause they wont take a lunch and breaks. Ok Im done ranting all in all if your looking for a decent paychekc with great benefits the PO is not a bad place to work.

so i came home and there was a packet here for me, full of forms to fill out. i have an interview april 2 @ 730 am.

im kinda geeked wonder what the deal is. i have a question, it says business attire. are slacks, shoes shirt and tie appropriate, or do i need to go out and buy a jacket?

I don't have any knowledge of the postal system, but unless it's for a management position I wouldn't think a jacket is neccesary. Still, it wouldn't be over the top to wear one, and technically that's what business attire means. Anyway, a nice, relatively conservative sports jacket is always good to have "just in case".

edit to say congratulations and good luck.

how you score does have some affect as to when you will be called. the higher the score, the higher you are on the hire list. for the interview you really don't need to over dress. slacks and a nice shirt will do fine. basically i know of no one that was called for the interview that didn't get the job. prepare to be there for a while and have to go for drug test, eye tests and boring things like that. the drug, eye test may not be the same day. to save your self time. make sure that you have all the paper work filled out. the interview is basically hr making sure that you are who you say you are. that your not a complete idiot and that you have had work experience. other than that i can't think of anything else that you might need. Pantera, did i forget anything? good luck and let us know where you will be stationed? was the test for rural or city?

Waited about 3-4 months with an 81 on my initial test to get in as a casual. Took me less then 3 months with a 92 on my score to go PTF, then slid into a unclaimed route, worked it for 6 months and put in my claim on it... thus regular in under 2 years. Pissed off alot of the old timers that had to wait 10 years for regular but fuck em. Then I quit.

Uniforms of course are outrageously overpriced but I'd suggest the standard couple shorts, slacks, shirts, 1 long sleeved shirt, and one padded shoulder clamp for the bag if you're on a walking route. Just wear a normal blue jacket for the first year or so, unless you want to chew up your entire uni-allowance on that.

And keep lots of maps of the area.

allright now fellas. allright. i filled out my 600 page application. you need your selective service card to go for the interview.

I DONT HAVE A PHYSICAL COPY!

i requested one, it said one week, that was like 8 days ago, i have the number, the date i registered, and they even say i asked for a new one, but cant fax a copy or anything. only verify if someone calls.

is this going to fuck me out of the job?

im so worried, and theres no number on the app to call if you have questions.

Congrats on getting this far. Don't fuck up and you got a job where you can't get fired.

I got a question. My dad has recommended that I become a postal inspector someday. Anyone anything about that?

(1) BE ON TIME; (2) Act Interested In Everything You Are Told; (3) Be Very Nice To Everyone And Smile Alot; (4) Think To Yourself And Say To Them "YES, I Can Do That".

And Like D-Rock Said: Good Luck!

bump bump..

anything else i need to know?

Just learn to hate all your superiors. I know postal employees and all of them hate the managers and the union representative always gets pounded by them.
