Definately deaf. At least you can still read, watch TV, and be able to move around without the aid of a cane or dog.

POWER AND CHAOS
Although I'm sure it must be awfully tough getting used to, I have to say I'd rather be blind. I really don't think I could live not being able to listen to music.

Blind. I think being deaf
would feel very lonely.

Try being deaf and blind. I asked my Mom how it's like and she says being deaf isn't half so bad. It's when she started losing her sight that she said it really sucks. I mean I couldn't imagine losing one sense but TWO?!?
I've often asked my parents if they had an opportunity to hear, would they want to? They replied with a strong no. Apparently they are happy the way they are and they think hearing things would be frightening.
Sign language is cool to know btw...

I think it's tremendously important to draw a distinction between being born without a certain sense and losing it after you've relied on it for years, by the way.
And Boobsie, my hats off to your parents for raising such a fantastic daughter despite all they had to deal with. They must be truly amazing people.
By the way, you ain't so bad yourself. Love ya.

I'd rather be deaf, at least I could use sign lanuage. Though I saw this story on the news about blind people getting mini-ponys instead of dogs, they are really cute and were sneakers!

Thunderlips' mom is a sign
language interpreter. She's
told me some pretty
interesting stories, like the
time she used to interpret for
a woman during her therapy
sessions. Facial expressions
are very important during
interpreting. She said it was
sometimes very difficult
during the therapy sessions
because the woman would sign
things like, "Ghosts talk to
me." and Lips' mom couldn't
express any surprise or shock.
That's pressure!

I'd rather be deaf. I wouldn't want to never see a naked body again.

GVAC is right about differentiating between being born with a handicap as opposed to getting one later in life. I have a sister who was born blind (Lawyer by the way) and I asked her if it were possible, would she like to have sight. She empahatically said NO! She said that she would have to be educated all over again and besides, she said, that my mother told her that me and my brothers are just too ugly to look at!! Nice mom!!
