Given what they say in Fight Club about both our fathers and William Shatner, your post is really blowing my mind.

I'll stick with my old man but Kurt Gowdy or Bill Gates could have worked.

Joel Hodgson. I'd have every episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 on DVD and I'd actually have a funny dad.

I'll stick with my Dad, but if forced to pick .... Obi Wan ... then I'd be on the fast track to Jedi!

I used to say Frank Zappa, but I'm not all that impressed with his kids. I guess I'd be the cool one.

I would stick with my own Dad.
He is a great man - he hasn't done what society might consider "great things" and there won't be any statues of him in the park, but he is good and kind and generous.
However, it would be nice if he (and by association, I) was rich...

Allan Thicke, Bob Saget (as Danny Tanner), or Ozzy.

Someone I would actually recognize if he kicked in my front door. That being said, I never really thought about the "ideal" dad. Maybe John McEnroe...I grew up watching that psycho and I always admired him for being one of those guys who really doesn't give a fuck what you think.

Fat Had A Great Dad; Very Reliable And Honest And A Good Sense Of Humor. If Fat Had To Choose Another, He Would Go To The Extreme For A Really Wacky Fun-Time Daddy Like John Candy.
