So I turn on the TV after Ron & Fez ended way too early tonight, and it seems we're under a severe thunderstorm warning. This weatherman is talking about the situation now, and I swear it sounds like he's completely turned on. He keeps talking about something called a "shell cloud" he sees on the radar, and he honestly seems to want a huge storm that really tears shit up to develop.

What's up with weathermen? Are they just psycho, or what? Is it just that they know no one gives a fuck about them if the weather is nice and calm?

There are 2 typesof weathermen. Type one being the meteoroligist who actually study the the weather and atmosphere. So when something is going to happen they go bat shit crazy. The second type is just a news reader, when the news reader hears of a big story he or she goes crazy because they get to be on camera for more than 90 secs.

The best way Ive heard them described, is as eco-terrorists. Some of the public will alter their lifestyle around what they say, businesses lose money, people change plans , cancel events, not leave the house, or be petrified that a killer event is on the way. Usually nothing ends up happening and then they tell us how unpredictable the weather is.

it's called a shelf cloud... it's a rotating cloud that lowers from the rest of the storm. This is the part of the super cell that spawns tornados.

TV meterologists are in it mostly for the noteriety... but they get very excited about weather events. As a storm chaser I know I fill up a bit when severe weather happens.
