My son has a friend spending the night tonight. He set up the den with sleeping bags and such. He laid down to go to sleep (using a pillow that he doesn't normally use), and he felt something inside the pillowcase. He shook it and something fell out...

It scared the shit out of him. I can only assume that my daughter put it there during her last visit. I raised her to be Evil. She has done well. Well played, my dear. Well played.

I'm continuing the bit. He didn't want it in the den with him, so he hid it in one of the bathrooms. I just retrieved it, and set it right outside the door to the den (at eye level). It's going to be the first thing he sees, when he wakes up to take a piss. I'm anxiously awaiting the scream. I love tormenting my kids. That's what they're for... right?

Am I the only one who hoped that this was going in a much different direction?

This reminds me -- before I was married, one of my roommates stole a creepy looking ventriliquist dummy from a bar. We used to take turns hiding the dummy in various places to try to get a scare out of the other roommates -- such as hiding the dummy in the freezer with a knife in his teeth. One time we spent an hour rigging the dummy just right in one of the roommates' closets so it swung out at him when he opened it. Scared the piss out of him.

I won a giant lion at Great Adventure one summer and placed it on my roommate's bed to scare him when he got home from work and turned on the light. About an hour later I walked into the same room to get something and ended up scaring the shit out of myself.

This reminds me of what my brother did when I was a kid (yes hottub, that brother!) I had a homemade doll who's head was a styrofoam ball with a mask-face glued on it. One day I knocked it off the shelf and the mask fell off and there was a hideous skull face painted under there with red eyes. It scared the shit out of me! What was funniest (or most twisted) was that my brother had painted it months before, and was just waiting for the day I'd discover it. He was always doing shit like that.

I had one of those dummies I got for XMAS 1 yr & my brothers used to scare the hell out of me with it.. I used to put it on the porch at night before I went to sleep. I still get nightmares.

I've never seen it before last night. My guess is, my daughter sneaked it in here just to scare my son.

When I was 17 I grabbed a giant cardboard cut out of Elvira from a coors light promotion and took it home. I placed it in the bathroom and scared the hell out of my father. He took my car keys and sneakers and threw them in the snow. Can't wait until my kids are older....
