This Friday, on IFC At Midnight. Check out "House of 1000 Corpses"
Dim the lights and get out the popcorn !!!
My chick loves this movie. I liked it in an "Evil Dead" (so goofy, it's good) kinda way. She claims it's gory and scary though. Although we both agree that the stupid man/machine guy at the end almost ruined the entire movie. It was totally out of place in comparison to the other characters and feel of the movie.
For people that like this flick, is it because of the gore, or the goofiness? Or both?

Gore. Goofy is not how I would describe this movie, except for the Captain Spaulding character, who I don't find as goofy after watching the Devil's Rejects.

yeah i ddint find it goofy either
excpet the begining
it's just a fun slasher crazy people flick
thing thats weird i kept meaning to the devils rejects and havent
i dont find the first evil dead goofy either evil dead 2 yeah but not evil dead
Maybe "campy" is a better word than goofy. Even the gore seemed that way. I don't think it was intentional though. Based on some interviews I read with Zombie, it was like that because he was given basically no money to make it.
He had more cash to make Devil's Rejects, which was obvious. It had better production values, but I actually liked the HoTC better. I also thought the first Mama Firefly (forget her name) was better than the one in Devil's Rejects (forget her name too).

What about Army of Darkness?
Also, I think the Evil Dead DVD commentary with Bruce Campbell was definitely some of the best commentary I've ever heard on a DVD.

I only like the second act. The victims are dull and cliched so I couldn't get in to the start. It picks up once the family comes in to it and it runs off the rails after the 'run rabit run!' scene.

My groin felt goofy during the scene with Sheri Moon in her pajamas with the ass crack showing.

Have they ever released the edited scenes from this. At a Rob Zombie concert years ago he played a bunch of them. It was before I had ever seen the film. I heard alot of them were super brutal.
