Do we know where the lucky couple is registered? What are our plans for gifts? The nice thing about buying registered gifts is that the various messageboards won't have problems with duplicates.
I swear, though, if BeltofScotch is right and the MNR shows up at the last second during the wedding and shows video of a drunk Cassie marrying HIM six months ago in a seedy vegas wedding chapel, I'm going to...well, ...laff pretty hard.

Whatever you're thinking of pitching in for a gift to Dave, why not cut your spending in half and give the other 50% to JimIMetal's daughters' college fund?

And Grunt hits a homerun. Although we've donated to Imus' charity and such, let's give a little help to a small charity that really needs the help.

Well this thread has come to a screeching halt. I really think the two are different things entirely. I think this thread was really supposed to be more of a joke thread man. What happened to JimiMetal is a tragedy and I feel just as sad as the rest of the board, and his friends, family. I will Also donate myself, however I don't think we need to have this tragedy loom over a thread like this now. I mean everyone is sad and a lot of people are making donations and trying to help his daughters. I just don't think this is the right place to bring up stuff like that is all. I know you have the right intentions and I agree with you as well to say the least.
Its really hard to explain sorry for sounding like a moron.

Already taken care of, my man.
We can honor Jimi's memory in one thread, and have fun at Dave's expense in another thread at the same time. In fact, there are those who would argue that that's accomplishing the same thing.

The man said on the show the other day that he thought turkey basters were appropriate wedding gifts. I say we give him turkey basters galore.

Well, uh... candlesticks always make a nice gift, and uh, maybe you could find out where she's registered and maybe a place-setting or maybe a silverware pattern.
Okay, let's get two! Go get 'em.

What is a good cash gift to give? I'm confused since this is not a conventional wedding where the participants pay for everything. I'd like to know what some of the other invitees are giving.

I'm thinking about doing this "Pitsy" style: bringing a blank check then filling it out depending on how entertained I am.

No.
That is what you give to a couple that is paying for a wedding.
I'm pretty sure Dave and Casey haven't put one dime into this event.

Richard makes a point though.... if the couple is paying for absotutely nothing then do you still give as much?
Don Stugots
06-15-2007, 06:19 AM
yes, no matter what, they need cash. any couple would regardless of who paid for what. you would want the couple to have nest egg to start their lives together with.

To be honest, we all know that giving a gift is suppose to be from the heart. One shouldn't expect something in return. But if you feel like you need something from your gift, just look at all the RADIO GOLD ESD has gave us over the last few years. You can tell that he really gives his all to the show and the listeners. So when your trying to figure out how much you should gift, just look in your heart and go from there.
All the love in the world to Dave and Casey.

Richard makes a point though.... if the couple is paying for absolutely nothing then do you still give as much?
I give around the same to everyone regardless of who paid. I guess you could say this is pretty much the same as if their parents had shelled out for the wedding, in a weird way. It also depends on how well I know the couple. We just went to a wedding last week that probably cost $60k, it was ridiculous over the top. They get the same as everyone else. I'm not going to adjust my gift because someone spent more (or less) on their wedding...

Do you feel it's best to bring an envelope with money in it or use the PayPal thing they set up? With all the chaos of that day, the PayPal gift may be better... Then a nice card given at the event just for the sentiment. What do you folks think?
I would use paypal if you want them to know how much you gave or if you cannot attend.

I picked 3 items off of their amazon.com gift registry. At least I know that they will like what we got them.

Go to the wedding with both brothers-in-law and cause a good old fashioned ruckus!

Not gonna cause a ruckus. I like the bride a lot but the groom...
Oh shit. Now I know how everyone else feels.

And to clarify, the reason we're not going is not because I'm mad at Dave, just because with work and lack of days off, we can't go.
