Some background: my brother lives in Frisco Texas, an exurb of Dallas gobbling up cow pasture with prefab subdivisions. It's modern Hayseed Nirvana, strip malls and Bible class and cheerleading practice.

The have a message board for the town that is pretty active, and I look at it from time to time because it makes me feel superior (I have to be honest). I just read this thread, and you've got to read it. It's not long, and it sums up the hayseed mentality in 2 pages:

from Wikipedia:

A commuter town, is an urban community that is primarily residential, from which most of the workforce commute to a nearby metropolis to earn their livelihood. The expression "exurb" (for "extra-urban") was coined in the 1950s, by Auguste Comte Spectorsky to describe the ring of prosperous rural communities beyond the suburbs that, due to availability via the new high-speed limited-access highways, were becoming commuter towns for an urban area

I would suggest a sep. toothbrush - get that wet and then brush the soap and then have the child brush his teeth and mouth.

EXACTLY! And what about at the end, when she gets the kid on his knees to pray to God? For what? For swearing, like every little boy has been doing for a million years?

Poor kid.

I'd imagine that's what they are - stay at home mothers. And that's how they see themselves.

but, the kid will learn when/where not to do it. i wouldn't have a problem with my kids cursing, but they need to learn that it's not socially acceptable to do so at school.

She's just seeking parenting advice from other parents.

You're the one posting the link here and making it into a federal case.

Lighten up Francis.

"I told him the words he couldn't say, a couple were new to him..."

that scenario of the mother sitting down her little kid and firing a string expletives at him made me chuckle
