I caught this film on Showtime last night. They gave 50 audience members some cameras for one of their concerts at MSG back in 2004.

It really is a great concert film. The audience members knew what they
were doing AND it was edited very well.

I have to admit I *hated* when License to Ill came out. My friends who
were into the NYC hardcore scene and [old skool] rap were all over
this album.

Then Fight for Your Right became a jock anthem.

That just sucked on so many levels. Who knew they'd grow a conscience??

I [heart] the Beastie Boyzzzzzzz.

I caught pieces of it (was in the middle of another project). I even recorded little bits. I plan on recording it in it's entirety very soon.

Is that the name of it????
Do you know if it's On Demand????

Hated License to Ill ,also. Check Your Head was one of those albums that would've been part of a "soundtrack to my highschool years".

I've got to credit them with braking me out of my "if it ain't metal, it's shit" rut that I was in back then, eventually allowing me to expand my taste in music to include a plethora, if you will, of genres.

I will definitely have to check this out.

I was at that concert. The second MSG show, I think, but I have yet to watch the documentary, or whatever it's called.

The idea for the whole thing is pretty creative, but the beasties have always been pretty creative.

Love this flick, even though their last album sucked gigantic Zeus balls, and I say that as someone who would die over their 2nd-5th albums. I hope they get back to the awesome "sonic textures" they had going with the new one...that last album was just way too simplistic. I know it was supposed to be a throwback, but it sucked even as that.

Exactly the same here.
I was so disappointed after hearing "To The 5 Boroughs" for the first time.

"Ill Communication" just popped into my head. Part of the "soundtrack of Senoir Week" for me.

i'm with you. i was soooooo into them from like the early 90's into like i dunno when. possibly when they started getting uber political. i mean they started with that shit a few years ago, but some time between the sounds of science & to the 5 boroughs they just lost me. i was at the garden show of course & for the first time i just really wasn't into it & didn't know every word being sung. i think i listened to tt5b once & not even all the way through. that was enough for me.

i'm watching right now, get happy when the older stuff comes up, but the newer songs aren't grabbing me. it is shot pretty well though. i do like the concept. very homegrownish.

Beastie Boys was the first concert I ever went to, in like '95. I lived in Hawaii and had to take the bus to the other end of the fuckin island to get there. Was going through my old stuff the other day and saw the ticket stub.

I loved Licensed to Ill when it came out, but I was about 6 and would've liked whatever my older brothers did. I have liked it less and less as time has gone on. Remember seeing the "world premiere" on MTV for Hey Ladies off Paul's Boutique. I remember thinking "what the fuck is this?"
