Can you butcher?

Ok....Last night this question popped in my head and was wondering how others would feel about this.


Lets say that there were no more slaughters houses for meat. No butchers...Nothing. everything in the world stays the same as it is now, except for getting your own meat. Supermarkets would still exsist except they would only sell live animals for you to kill yourself.

as convenient as it is to just point out which part of an animal you desire to eat at any local supermarket or butcher, my question is, if you had to slaughter a cow, chicken, lamb, fish for seafood or any other living creature yourself, would you be able to kill it and still eat meat?

I dont think i could do it. I'd probably only eat it if i came over to your house if you did it and invited me over for a bite to eat.

i could eat fish. ugh. i remember being a kid and my dad and uncle skinned a rabbit. i almost threw up.

nope. no restraunt would sell Steak because there would be no one to sell to the restraunts. I'd say, they'd be able to cook it if you gave them the slab of steak yourself.

I've fished for years so I've filleted plenty of fish. I don't think I'd have a problem plucking and gutting a chicken or turkey, either. Larger animals like cows and lamb, however...I don't know if I'd have the patience or the stomach for it, to be honest.

dont get me wrong, i love my steak, oh how i love it! so juicy and tender!

I would have to be really hungry to butcher a bovine. Fish, no problem.
We have a lot of wild turkeys here, they look and act so stupid, that I actually want to shoot one and eat it. A turkey is the only animal I have ever had the desire to shoot.

let me add, i could probably hunt for food. take out a deer no problem. just going up and slaughtering a domesticated animal would be rough.

I think I could shoot them in the head but don't think i could cut up a cow or pig unless to prevent starving to death. fish or chicken i don't see a problem.

Right now I'd think no but have you ever not eaten meat for a bit. After about a week and a half I'm ready to bite people on the neck. I'd probably go shit crazy and kill cows like it was nothing to get a steak. Then I'd grill a whole carcass in the backyard in a big firepit and just ripped chunks off as I ran around it in a loincloth.

It would be a lot harder to do, but I think I'd get over it sooner or later. I would definitely eat way more vegetables from then on in just for the time it takes to slaughter an animal and clean everything up.

What if you had to go get your own fruit and vegetables? Some of those trees are mad high. It could prove difficult.

I can definately kill and butcher any animal, except a dog so no Chinese food for me. I hunt and fish so wild animals are no problem. I once helped butcher a cow on my uncle's farm. He killed it with a sledgehammer to its head. The only thing I didn't like about the cow was the smell when he cut the thing open.
