View Full Version : Do I Have OCD?

I have been traveling a bit lately and have needed to stay in motels. I'm not rich and travel with my dog, so I'm limited to motels that accept dogs like Red Roof, Motel 6 and Super 8. I cannot bear the thought of walking barefoot or even in socks in these rooms. I literally put down the extra towels on the floor as a pathway and refuse to let my feet hit any part of the floor/carpet, jumping from towel to bed. I also immediately remove the bed spread and sleep with long johns so as not to to touch the sheets with my bare legs.
I also have problems walking barefoot in public pools, gyms and spas and would never, ever drop a deuce in a public toilet. I actually hold by breath in the rare occasion I have to use a Don's John. Probably the most amazing video I've ever seen is from Woodstock where the cheerful dude is cleaning out the johns that 100,000 muddy stinkin hippies used with a hose, no gloves or anything.
Am I OCD? Are you and what are your piccadillos?

Yes you are. I think you should embrace germs not fear them. Try to shit in as many public places as possible. Its fun to get new ones on your list.

I think I'm developing an OCD at work. Every night I have to leave a couple packages in the receiving area for the courier to pick up early the next morning. It happens more and more often that I'm almost out the door when I get the feeling that I forgot to do it and I have to go back and check. I only have to check once but I get the feeling it might get worse as time goes on.

ya see, everyone is alittle ocd. Now, as far a chemical imbalance, i can't make the judgment. I know ALOT of us can't shit in a public places...either shitshy or just don't wanna do it.
OCD is a REAL problem if it starts hindering your normal everyday life. And, you need to realize that there are two sides to ocd: The obsessive and the compulsive.
The terms can be defined as see fit. The thing is man your reactions have to be 100% consistent with no other reaction. You may have a serotonin abnormality.
So, there is the obsessive part. Obsessions can be in the form of an extreme anxiety with a singular or set of consistent thoughts that keep repeating like a broken record.
A compulsion(subjectively) is a reaction to a particular action i.e., a "consequence."
My advice: seek a psychiatrist. He or she can evaluate your level of "ocd."
However, i can say that psychiatric science is a very "hit or miss" science. It is my understanding that we know more about our universe than we do our brain.
So, stay cool. Stay calm. Try and get to a doctor.
Best of luck.

Take this test and see what you think... Most people that think they have OCD in fact are just nervous type people that want to control their surroundings. "True" OCD is different. My sister has it and I can tell you it is a real problem.
