The Alkey & Silera Couch-A-Thon!

As you are all aware, Silera and Alkey have hit some rough times in the last few months due to Alkey’s health.

As a result, their couch has become a makeshift hospital bed and has definitely seen better days.

Since I don’t know anyone that has not enjoyed their tremendous hospitality, or crashed at their house at one time or another, I see it only fit that we get together to replace the big red couch.

The couch is from Ikea and will cost $899.00 plus tax. If you would like to contribute anywhere between $25.00- $50.00 it will help tremendously.

Obviously, this is purely optional but I would like you to keep in mind that Silera and Alkey have always welcomed us in their home with open arms and have been there for all of us at one time or another, I think this is a great way for us to return the favor.

I have a couch and love seat that I was going to be getting rid of if that is ok with the group. It is in good shape and will cost nothing. And the funds raised from this can possibly go to help with some of the medical bills.

I asked that too over at Wackbag. Seems they're just replacing with the exact same couch. I guess it works pretty well but it's just a little old and/or beat up.

According to peeps "In the Furniture Industry" this couch is actually pretty nice and not the usual Ikea garbage you get at that store.

It's the one we have already sans the smell that won't escape due to a colostomy bag breaking on it and a fistula erupting into it. I'm pretty thrifty and ikea is good enough for me. I may get a different one, with a sleeper or maybe leather that I can wipe off. I probably wouldn't get the new one until I see if this surgery works out better than the last. If I can replace the sofa, and paint and just change the scenery, I'd feel better and maybe get Alkey to start feeling like things are different too.

I truly appreciate anyone for donating, and understand those that can't or don't want to donate. So many people have asked to help and I'm not good at asking for help. It could be worse, so I actually feel pretty blessed.

Moe speaks the truth. Doing something nice for someone else without any expection of direct payback (other than feeling good about yourself for a moment) is one way of making yourself an adult.
