Conversation Corrections

Today at work some guy was telling me a story that had stuff in it that I told him previously. He credited "someone told me this" and I never said "hey it was me that told you that". Alot of times people tell me the same story twice or even three times. In these situations do you correct the person or just nod and wait til the awfulness is over?

Bob Impact didn't react the way he normally does to this situation, which is to slap the offender in the face and then run around in circles screaming "YOUR REDUNDANCY IS ASTOUNDING! REPETITION! REPETITION! REPETITION!"

Holy crap my Mom does that all the time and it drives me insane. When I was a teenager I made the mistake a few times of interrupting her and telling her I've already heard that story. I know better now, I will just nod, help her along with details she misses, and try to drop hints that she's already told me about it.
