A question of bowling balls

This is just in theory. And considering today's climate I'm picking my words carefully.

Suppose two co-workers are arguing. One is a short stout black woman and the other a middle aged white man with a gut. It gets personal. The short black woman calls the white guy a fat snaggle-toothed jerk (bad teeth as well). The older guy then calls the stout black woman a bowling ball.

The question:
Would the bowling ball remark be considered by some as racist? Bowling balls are generally black. I got one that's clear lucite with a fake skull inside but that's a whole different story. And yeah. Some are very colorful. But bowling balls? Generally black.
Do you think anyone would push (or consider pushing) the bowling ball insult as a racial slur? Remember...ANYONE.

Absolutely!
If you called her a pencil, youd be in trouble because pencils contain graphite, which is known to have a dark color.
If you called her a nice lady, people would think you meant lady, like CLEANING lady, or lady of the night.
If you said she was pretty, youd be slapped with a sexual harassment complaint.
Who knew until a few weeks ago that the words Nappy Headed Ho could POSSIBLY get someone FIRED??
