View Full Version : Stephanie Miller?

If I could play armchair PD for a moment, why not snag Stephanie Miller for the JV/Elvis slot? She used to do a show with Howard Hoffman on WKTU in New York in the early nineties; it was very smart and funny, but the talent was probably lost on much of the audience due to the restrictive nature of the format.
I had the pleasure of catching a little of her show recently on MSNBC where she was given a couple of days in the Imus slot. She was as funny and smart as I remember her to be.
(For the record, I found JV and Elvis to be hacky unfunny "zoo" guys during the few instances I tuned in. I won't miss them.)
Miller is syndicated into dozens of markets and her show is live from California from 9am-noon. The timing seems right.
Anyone care to chime in on this?

I really liked Jackie Clarke, who filled in one night. I liked her style.
They should replace JV & Elvis with Cabbie, put Jackie Clarke on from 9-12 and give East Side Dave the Love Line's spot. Dump Love Lines, it's a waste of NYC air time.

Love lines is probably better suited for a Z100 kind of station.
If East Side Dave got the Love Lines slot, his air day would run from noon to 2am; he would certainly need some help from The Rider to make it all work.

Addendum: The FreeFM web site still features JV & Elvis so this chatter may be premature.

Obviously, he'd have to drop at least the XM gig. But, I really think a late-night ESD show would be terrific. The kid deserves it. The freaks come out at night and Love Lines is wasting some great, wacked out NYC callers.

Stephanie miller used to have that hit song " never knew love like this," which was pretty much the quintisential rollerskating song. I think tht she did stint on the "Wiz" as dorothy on broadway or maybe even "dreamgirls."

* Legroom, you're confusing her with some singer named, Stephanie MILLS.
I don't know much about Stephanie MILLER, but I read that she got her start in radio with Brother Wease (Opie's ol' pal/radio mentor). Additionally, father was Barry Goldwater's running mate. I don't have an opinion of her one way or the other, but from what I saw one morning on MSNBC her show seemed very Air America.

I thought she was Archie Bunker's niece.

I really liked Jackie Clarke...
A statement like that around here could draw laughter or anger. I however agree. She's unfocused as hell, but enjoyable.

She's green, but she's at least got a personality and a point of view. The first time I heard her she was talking about how much she hates the Metropolitian Diary in the New York Times. I totally agreed with her and, for some reason, I loved that.

To replace Imus, MSNBC did a test week with Stephanie Miller (along with a week of some black guy, a week with Carlson Tucker and a week with Joseph Scarboro). Out of all of them, Stephanie Miller was the best. She did overdo the "wacky" sound effects but, besides that, her topics weren't too bad. If we can't get the I-man back, I would watch/listen her during O & A breaks.

I'm happy that somebody finally had something nice to say about Miller; I was beginning to feel like a tool for liking her. Yes, she was heavy on the sound effects. But don't act like Ronnie is ever more than three feet away from his Instant Reply box (or his gun). Of course, Ronnie's drops are the best in the business. So because of that we are a little spoiled. However, I did smile when Stephanie hit a siren and called "Talking Point Police" on some right-wing hayseed who began spouting the latest Bush administration buzzword.
