Seeing as how ron is such a connoisseur of entertainment, if you could introduce one movie and one album to him-what would they be?

For an album, Quincy Punx' We're Not Punks... But We Play Them On TV. The highlight would be the song Eat A Bowl Of Fuck.

Teagan's Juice
In High Definition
Over fifty squirts! Drinks are on me. Cytherea is back and wetter than ever! Her performances in Squirtwoman will leave you slack-jawed and rock hard... And dripping wet. Starring: Cytherea, Nautica Thorn, Tiana Lynn

It's hard to pick something for Ron since I know he watches so much and has probably already seen whatever I could throw at him. I guess I'd hand him a movie called 'The Life and Hard Times of Giy Terrifico". It's a Canadian mockumentary that's basically a country music version of Spinal Tap. Not too bad and it has the Midnight Rider's theme playing during the final scene.

it would just be a song I wrote and poorly recorded. it's a 'guido/rock/rap/old' school tune named

Eat Da Brassiole

and I know I'm misspelling braciole but I don't believe everyone would pronounce it like brassiole

Actually I might throw out

In the Company of Men

My boss told me about this in like 2001. not sure how old it was when it came out. it looks kind of low budget, but i loved it. Ron might enjoy it, it has good charector development.

I would recommend "Eat A Peach" by the Allman Brothers but I know he already loves this album therefore I recommend "The Deepest End" By Gov't Mule.

Warren Haynes still plays with ABB and I think "the Deepest End" with his own band is one of the best collections I've ever heard.

I think he would truly enjoy it.

john helyar - lords of the realm: the real history of baseball (http://www.biblio.com/books/111411608.html)

and my all-time favorite baseball quote:

the great trouble with baseball today is that most of the players are in the game for the money that's in it - not for the love of it, the excitement of it, the thrill of it.

and a prize for whoever can tell me who said that, without cheating. (no, not kev costner!)

and an interesting thing, helyar also wrote barbarians at the gate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbarians_at_the_Gate_(film)) about the buyout of nabisco and mlb's technical operations (website, et al.) are run out of the chelsea market (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_Market) that used to be the nabisco factory where the oreo was invented. mlb actually has offices inside the giant ovens that they baked cookies in. (ok, maybe it's just interesting to me!)

I recommend Battle Royale. It's a Japanese movie from 2000 based on a book of the same title, in which kids are put on an island and forced to kill each other until only one is left. The English translation of the book is widely available too.

Skip the sequel.

TV show: Kenny vs. Spenny

Movie: Johnny Got His Gun (that freaky movie thread reminded me of this one) Has anyone seen it?

TV: I know Ron is an adult and generally doesn't go for cartoons, but Frisky Dingo is brilliant on an Arrested Develpment level. Great characters with great lines delivered with perfect timing.

Album: I've heard Earl play them a couple of times, but I don't think Ron's paid attention to it, but I really think he would dig Clutch. Bluesy tunes, with mythological lyrics applied to current events. Start off with Elephant Riders, as they really showed some complexities on the album, rather than the droning stoner rock on previous efforts.

Movie: This one's tough as I'm sure everything I've loved, Mr. B's seen, so I'll go with an old film I recently enlightened myself with. The General starring Buster Keaton. It was my first Keaton film and I was amazed to see how well the humor held up after 80+ years. The man was a genius and must see more of him.

However, their new album Sky Blue Sky (http://wilcoworld.net/news/index.php) comes out next week, so maybe we can get Pepper Hicks to play some of the new stuff.

I've got a movie recommendation. The movie Johnny Guitar (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047136/)is way off the beaten path, but it's an interesting western in the fact that the two lead characters are female. A little bizarre, but Sterling Hayden is solid in the film and you also get a young Ernest Borgnine as well.

Plus Nicholas Ray directed it and I've gotta cheer for a fellow Wisconsin boy.

I gotta recommend the Korean movie, Oldboy.
Don't stop there - Oldboy is part of a "revenge trilogy" all by the same director. The others are Sympathy for Mr. Vengance and Lady Vengeance, which just came out a few months ago. I'm hard pressed to pick a favorite, but the tragic irony in Sympathy is just amazing.

There was a small film out of Australia in the late '90's called The Castle that was as charming and funny as the early Christopher Guest movies (or The Princess Bride, before that got played out). It is about Autralian hayseeds; first you laugh at them, then you root for them.

Where werewolves and bats will always maim ya
The murky moor will likely claim ya
As we go stumbling through-oooo-oooo-ooooo...

I pledge by the sign of the three toed sloth
To do my best to do my duty
To always obey the laws of the werewolf pack
And to never rest, until Brucie lives once more
And takes his rightful place in the annals of distinguished monsters
And I can once again return to that most goriest of homelands...

I haven't seen your movie, but I love Clutch and Elephant Riders might be my favorite album by them.

And is there a better character name than "Killface"????

As for me, I'll go with an old film classic simply known as "Warbus".
