What is your favorite episode? I think mine may be when Al builds his own bathroom and gets a Ferguson.

It's amazing to me to think about how Fox got started with so few shows. I never thought it would stick around, but I loved to get high and watch Married. I didn't start watching the Simpsons for several years. I was a big fan of "It's Garry Shandling's Show", and I was pissed when Seinfeld started on NBC. I thought it just a Shandling rip off. Didn't start watching it until just a couple years before it ended.

I always got a kick out of this show, but I kind of resent that it really killed Ed O'Neil's career in terms of him getting a lot of different roles. What I have seen him in he's great, whether it's a drama or a comedy...kinda sucks that being Al Bundy made a lot of people ignore him for other roles.

He's gotten other work past Married with Children, but the shows didn't have great ratings. I seem to remember him in a law-enforcement drama (not popeye doyle, this was past MWC) that was good.

I think my favorite MWC episode was the two-parter when they were living in the supermarket because their AC was broke. That's the one that sticks out in my mind the most. I also liked the slow-motion montage against Bubba Smith.

Matty I think you are referring to the DRAGNET remake which I thought was pretty good.

My fav: the Christmas episode with Sam Kinison.

The episode with Sam Kinison as Al's guardian angel may be one of the greatest moments in television history.

I'm also partial to the episode where Al gets caught trying to return a copy of "The Little Engine That Could" to the library, if only for this monologue:

"So you think I'm a loser? Just because I have a stinking job that I hate, a family that doesn't respect me, a whole city that curses the day I was born? Well, that may mean loser to you, but let me tell you something. Every morning when I wake up, I know it's not going to get any better until I go back to sleep again. So I get up, have my watered down Tang and still-frozen Pop Tart, get in my car with no upholstery, no gas and six more payments to fight traffic just for the privilege of putting cheap shoes on the cloven hooves of people like you. I'll never play football like I thought I would, I'll never know the touch of a beautiful woman, and I'll never again know the joy of driving without a bag on my head. But I'm not a loser. 'Cause despite it all, me and every other guy who'll never be what he wanted to be, are still out there, being what we don't wanna be, forty hours a week, for life. And the fact that I haven't put a gun to my mouth, you pudding of a woman, makes me a winner!"

I didn't say he never worked again. I just think he's a good enough actor to have made the jump to doing a lot more films but he wasn't casted because everyone just looked at him and thought "Al Bundy."

My fav: the Christmas episode with Sam Kinison.

heres some Bundy Christmas lines i found....from http://www.bundyology.com/

Al Bundy's Christmas story
from It's a Bundyful Life (Part 1) (412)

Twas the night before christmas, and all through the house,
no food was a stirring, not even a mouse.
Stockings were hung 'round dad's neck like a tie,
along with a note that said "presents or die".
Children were plotting all night in their beds,
while the wife's constant whining was splitting his head.
But daddy had money this year in the bank,
then they closed up early, now dad's in the tank.
...and all of a sudden Santa appeared,
a sneer on his face, booze in his beard.
Santa I said as he laughed merrily,
you do so much for others do something for me.
Bundy he said, you only sell shoes,
your son is a sneak-thief, your daughters' a flooze.
Ho Ho Santa said, should I mention your wife,
her hairs like an a-bomb, her nails like a knife.
As he climbs up the chimney, that fat piece of dung,
he mooned me two times, he stuck out his tongue.
And I heard him exclaim, as he broke wind with glee:
you're married with children, you'll never be free.

Five Days of Christmas
from It's a Bundyful Life (Part 1) (412)

Bud: 5 bowls a-flushing
Peg: 4 'roids a-throbbing
Kel: 3 nosehairs waving
Bud: 2 children starving
Peg: 1 untouched wife!

and who can forget, PSYCHO DAD!!!

Psycho Dad original theme song
from Al... with Kelly (501)

Who's that riding into the sun.
Who's the man with the itchy gun.
Who's the man who kills for fun!
Psycho Dad. Psycho Dad. Psycho Dad!
He sleeps with a gun, but he loves his son.
Killed his wife 'cause she weighed a ton... Psycho Dad!

I loved two of their christmas ones - the one with Sam Kinison, and the one where Santa's parachute didn't open and you see him fall in the back yard.

I also loved the episode where Peg wins a physical trainer for a week, and by the end of the week she's gotten him so fat and lazy on bon-bons that he has a heart attack and dies. Al explaining to Peg that it's the fact that she eats crap has actually made her better at survival, much like the cockroach.

"That one?" she asks pointing towards the floor.

"No...that one." pointing near it.

And the first time we ever heard the collective term of Elvis impersonators as "Elvi" was on MWC.

"He told me, Peggy...I like a woman with tall hair..."

God bless that stupid show. It may very well be the closest we'll get to "Absolutely Fabulous" or "Are You Being Served?"
