Long story short.

One of my classes grades on a 1000 point scale, 920 and higher is considered a "A", right now I have 919 just on the line. I really want the "A". I kind of feel that if I go talk to him he would most likely give me the extra point but It kind of seems weird to me somehow to ask. Part of me wants to assume he will just give me the point but the other part wants to make sure

What would you do?

You Are One Of Many So Do Not Assume This Is Even On His Radar Screen.

By All Means Talk To Him About It. The Worst He Can Do Is Say "No, 919 It Is". But If You Don't Ask, It Will Be 919. So You Have Nothing To Lose By Asking!

Whats the line for the next grade lower? If its a fair amount I say you definately should.

I think you should accept your B like a man. You can't grovel for grades. Only chicks do that. If he bumps you up to an A, it'll be nice surprise.

Go and ask for the extra point! If he's hesitant ask if theres some extra credit or something to get the extra point for the A. If you are that close you obviously deserve the A, he will probably understand. Worst comes to worst you don't get the point. You have nothing to lose!

Did You Talk To The Teacher, Or Did The A Just Come With Your Fingers Crossed?

Congrats, I've heard this works pretty often, but I was always too lazy to attempt to do anything school related outside of class.

If The Kid Is Looking To Go On To Grad School, The Difference Between The A And A B Could Be The Difference Between Getting Into Harvard Or Podunk U. The Fellow Would Have Been Dumb Not To Fight For The A!!!!

It's funny though.... once you get in the working world, grades don't mean shit. I never even listed my GPA on a resume.

In my experience, it does for your first job. If you get a great first job and do well there, then that becomes the big thing. At least in my experience it did.

Thats very true, Ive worked in the real world for many years and not once did I have to mention my grades for a job. That being said I feel better about getting good grades than any report or memo I ever wrote(i know there not the same thing but....)

Good point. I had a 1.6 at the end of my freshman year. I got it up to a 2.8. I never thought it would matter until I started applying for grad school 15 years later.

One point six; four C's and an F. A fine example you set!
