I was a big Warren Zevon fan, and am really looking forward to the biography she wrote about him.
For those interested, like me, it's called I'll Sleep When I'm Dead and more info can be found at Crystal Zevon's website (http://www.crystalzevon.com).

And if you're looking for some of Warren's CDs to get into, you can try "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead: An Anthology" or "Genius: The Best of Warren Zevon".
"The Wind" is one of the best CDs ever made, but the sadness level of it surpasses Springsteen's Nebraska.

This website (http://63alfred.com/timeline.htm) is about an old house in Detroit and it's appearances from the 1876 to today.
At the bottom right of the page, click on the Other Pictures & Interesting Facts arrow, then A history of 63 Alfred Street In Pictures. You'll see a slide show of it's history
OR just click here: But what this has to do with Warren Zevon is that you'll hear him perform "I was in the House when the House burned down" from Austin City Limits, December 3rd, 1999 (http://63alfred.com/aerials.htm). A fantastic cover and just a cool way to hear it.

At 28 years old you should be old enough to appreciate Warren Zevon but if you don't know enough about him perhaps give a listen to some of his stuff and see if you can develop one. Different tastes for everyone but Warren was a terrific songwriter. maybe not a genius but he did bring the goods. Drugs and alcohol took a lot out of him that caused him to waste alot of his talent. Start with his last album The Wind. If you can listen to keep me in your heart for a while and still not be impressed let us know and I'll suggest a few others ENJOY

do i really have to listen to it?
my brothers were 14 & 16 years older than me, but they were metal heads so i was brought up on the music of ac/dc & pink floyd & zep. my parents were kids of the 40's & 50's so from them i got stuck with elvis & anything played on old school cbs 101.1. i do remember hearing warewolves of london & thinking it was one of the dumbest songs ever but had no idea until recently that he was the one who wrote it.

Werewolves of London is the song he's most well-known for, but his other songs are much deeper than the kitschy song that Werewolves is. I always saw him as the go-between of Dylan and Springsteen, with a heavy dose of morbid humor.

"I saw a Werewolf drinking a pina colada at trader vics. his hair was perfect" is still one of the funniest lines in all of music

He was great when he filled in for Paul Shaffer on Letterman back in the late 90's.

Dude, I owe you a line of coke for turning me on to this site! I'm listening to said concert right now....great sound.
(on second thought, I'll owe you a beer or something. I don't know where to get coke. Eh, I suppose I could figure it out, but I don't wanna.)

The guy behind Wolfgang's Vault was on R&F twice last year and Ron's X-Mas gift came form there as well.

You know what sucks, Matty? Remember that day you jumped on me for saying I download Zevon, then you forgave me when I told you I paid for the downloads? Well... I forgot to back up the files before deleting them. You were right. I should have bought the fucking CD!!!
Edit: also lost in this debacle... Pixies, Mitch Hedberg, and Tom Waits. I suck.
