No not Porn , This may be in the minority of posters but anyone else into the hardcore(punk) scene? My older friend told me that back in 03 it was really good on L.I but its kinda shit now if compared with back then. The energy in this music and the fast paced play is great , bands such as Long Islands: THIS IS HELL and Florida's : Evergreen terrace are the best Ive heard so far.

Evergreen Terrace is good stuff.
I've been digging Hatebreed since I was little, and Sick of It All.

I was into it back in the day when I listened to stuff like DRI, GBH and Fugazi. Got to see a lot of good bands in DC in the late 80s, early 90s.
I don't get to hear much new stuff anymore except for some bands my nephews have played for me, like Clit45, the Germs and the Queers. I'm more into the surf-rockabilly old school sounding punk, though. Not really hardcore-hardcore anymore.

Alright im bored enough to revive a dead thread. A month later I've found a few more great hardcore bands. Right now I am listening to a band named the Unseen, pretty hard stuff. Theres another band named Walls of Jericho with a Female lead vox , pretty crazy stuff. And a few others. Im gonna be seeing This is Hell with some other L.I hxc(hardcore) bands in Port Jeff. And hardcore can be defined in many ways as a response to the 2nd post , theres hardcore metal and hardcore punk and mixes of those both. It depends on the band. I lean towards hardcore punk.

Husker Du were in the hardcore section at the record store, but I would say that was just so they had a place. And My favorite HD record is called Metal Circus.
Weird, huh?

I saw DRI live a about 5 years ago, one of the best show's I've been to. except I got in an argument with one of the opening bands, but that's a story for a different thread. I wish there was enough interest to start a "Favorite DRI song" thread, mine would be "Syringes in the Sandbox"

Li hardcore to check out: the agent is a pretty good band. I also recommend capital. Another band I dig from ny is called each other's mothers.

I can't forget the back up plan. Non LI hardcore: Marathon and Modern life is war.

the end all be all of hardcore is sick of it all
i like youth of today
bad brains
horrorshow
nerve agents
kid dynamite and others.

i forgot minor threat and black flag

husker du isnt a hardcore band, they have alot more to do with the first emo bands and what would be just thought of as indie rock now.

Extinct hardcore bands I like:

Life of Agony and E. Town Concrete. They both had roots deep in the hardcore scene, but took their music in different directions.

Unseen were good I saw them open for Dropkick Murphys a few years ago. Them and Roger Miret and his new band.

Roger Miret: From Agnostic Front to PETA. He may have lost "the hardcore".

seriously, dissonant music, muted vocals. you have to understand im talking about actual emo not what has popularly been called emo.

h2o is good but you have to see them live, they just dont do it when recorded.

american hardcore (http://www.sonyclassics.com/americanhardcore/)

great footage, particularly of the bad brains, and interviews with Ian McKaye, Greg Ginn, etc.

the problem with any documentary about alternative music is that the first half hour is a bunch of guys talking about how much better everything used to me, and then the last 10 minutes is usually about how things just arent the same anymore.
