View Full Version : My poor baby girl

Had to euthanize my baby girl. That dog was a member of my family for 14 years. As far as I know, Disney was around 16. Some organ (probably spleen) ruptured tonight. She was in a lot of pain. She couldnt breath, wouldnt eat. The vet said that she wouldnt make it through the night. I stayed with her while they did the injection. I've never had to live throught that before. My poor little girl sighed, put her head down on my hand, and just left.
I knew the day would come, but wasnt expecting it when I got up this morning.

Needless to say I'm in a bit of pain.

Disney, good companion, good protector, good friend. Take care of my Grandma. I'll miss you.

Thanks Don. I havent lost a pet in a number of years. Guess I needed a good cry today. She was a very misuderstood dog - everyone said "ooh you cant keep her around if you have a kid - she's a biter" - she protected my son like a champ. My Dad's going to be devastated. She adored him. Still not sure how my son is processing this, as he was sorta asleep during all this.

Bill, I know exactly what it feels like to lose a pet that you loved liked it was your own child.
I am really sorry for your loss. It will be hard but you will get thru it.
All my sympathies.

Sorry to hear of your loss. All of us who have had pets have gone thru this and we know how much it sucks.

Thanks for all the support. It's tough enough losing a family member who's been with you for 14 years, it's harder actually having to make the decision and sit there holding her while they inject. That was a first for me. The last pet that I had that died, died in the car on the way to the vet (2001/2002 timeframe). Before that, it's been over a decade, and I wasnt there for the end.

I am so sorry for your loss. No matter how old they are it is never enough time or any easier. She lived a good life with you. Hope you feel better soon & if I lived closer would offer my bullies to lend some moral support & cheering up.

Bill, I am very sorry to hear your story, but at least shes not in pain anymore if it is any consolation. Good luck, and in a few weeks, you might want to look to get a new dog. I found that to be the best way to get over the grief!

This is so true. Some dogs who seem aggressive are actually just protective, and can be some of the most loyal pets you'll ever have in your life. I have one right now.

So sorry to hear about your lil buddy, Bill. I know how rough it can be, and it never gets any easier. Bravo to you for staying with him till the end, you're a better man than me.

What Need Was There To Put That Comment In This Thread? Anyone Who Has Had A Pet For 14 Years Knows Exactly Where He's Coming From.
