One is adorable and eloquent. One is adorable and nutty. I'm not saying which one.

Let's all email Al Sharpton and tell him how we feel about his actions. Here are some email addresses for his "activist" organization:

I think HTG did a really great job, especially since she was going against a professional arguer. I can't believe how much heat PAC is getting. Pretty cool shit, especially considering it's comprised of us message board rejects.

I agree she did great- and for a professional arguer Sharpton really knows how to misquote her saying that she said they didnt have the right to organize....those words never came out of her mouth.

If this is tha path we are going down I am seriously considering even moving to another country that knows the definition of free speech.

I am sooo sick of this shit- a country with a righ to free speech and more agencies to regulate that right...WTF. That is the biggest contradiction....The American way.

Again HTG is doing GREAT! Killing on all the big points and getting the message out there. There's no way I could handle myself like that with Al Sharpton! He's been doing that for 30 years and she held her own.

And I don't think I have to say it, but I will. She's easy on the eyes.
My chick said she looked better in green, but what does she know.

Serously Deb, call me. I'll leave her in a second.
What, are you gonna wear green again? Come on!
This is CNN Headline News. She doesn't get TV like you and I do.

you and all the people that were leaving when Bush got re-elected should all move to an island. you can call it NeverGoingToHappen island. you can raise unicorns for money.

O&A being kicked off and the recent attacks on free speech, while annoying, is not even close to a reason to leave the country. when you REALLY sit there and think about it, besides slightly changing your daily entertainment, would it really change you life that much? would your paycheck be any lower? would you lose your house? i doubt it. i know everyone is angry and upset, but try to be slightly rational here.

I enjoyed the sarcasm but...This goes beyond entertainment-
The thing is this is how the whole downward spiral begins...it begins with losing our freedom of speech...then we slowly but surly start losing each of our rights until we have NO rights.
The United States is a relatively young country in comparison to others and we are now seeing the flawes in the way our governement works....Corporations now have more power than our government. And this is just an example. Another instance of corporations dictating other bahaviors that are not acceptable to them would be not allowing their employees to ride motorcycles or bungee jumping and partaking in risky behaviors due to liability,
Are they alse going to prevent having sex due to the possibility of someone catching an STD?
Its alot easier if you start to realize that corporations are running our lives and destroying our "freedom"- soon you will not be able to protest or present any opinion outside the guidelines of that entity.
Is it going to come to the company you work for has a vested interest in who you vote for based on the company's politics?...It may just come to that.

i see your point, and I think it is a valid one. but i think this is just a tiny step back before we move forward 10 steps again (i am talking strictly about speech here)

turn on channel 4 tonight and watch it for a few hours, or any non-cable channel and look how "adult" some of the shows are. this was not the case even 15 years ago, not to mention 30 or 40 years.

this whole thing with free speech in radio kind of reminds me of the HUGE backlash when the simpsons came out. they were pushing the envelope at the time and everyone was outraged. the simpsons were going to be the downfall of society. people protested, they started to take a hard look at other shows. evetually it all dies down, people move on, and the limits gets pushed again.

sometimes you have to give a little back to be able to move forward. after janet jackson and the church thing, everyone said O&A would never be back on terrestrial radio, and you can listen to them tommorow morning on 92.3. i think this all blows over in a few months, and when XM profits are down, a lesson will be learned, and future decisions at a satellite radio company will have new precedence.

as for corporations owning us, they do. but they also do in Italy, England, and anywhere else you would want to move.

I hope you're right ..
And another example of the scenario you describe is when the Morton Downey Jr show was on- so controvertial....but then spawned shows like the Richard Bay show...and HELLO- Jerry Springer...which is still on.
I guess we will just have to see how the worm turns on this one.

I hope this turns out the best for all of us..

i do not think she made him look like an ass. I think he had some valid points and they had a good debate. the impressive part is that she went toe to toe with a professional arguer and held her own very well.

If they want to take up something outside radio they should take up Manhunt 2. It's a very violent video game that was banned in Britain and received an AO (Adults Only) rating in the US. It was set for release on PS2, PSP and Wii but Nintendo and Sony say they will not license a game with a AO rating. So now the game will either not be released or be censored to get an M rating.

JustJon
06-25-2007, 04:07 PM
Appealing a game rating isn't a censorship issue per se. They have the option of appealing the rating, releasing it AO, or editing it the game. This is no different than a movie receiving an NC-17 rating.

Just like an NC-17 rated movie, many outlets will choose not to carry an AO game. In this case, it is the commercial decision of the Gamestop/EB chain to not carry any AO titles and Nintendo and Sony choose not to certify AO games for their current generation systems.
