I find this crazy, don't you? Opie and Anthony just talking about sandwiches as their careers fall apart around them. Ron and Fez just putzing along as normal as the station they are on is crumbling. If you didn't know the news it would be like nothing was happening and everything was OK in the world.

Why is there a complete blackout? Up until a day ago they were talking about the censorship, protests, how hard radio was getting. Then something happens and they just stop.

Why is no one on air saying anything about this? Is everyone really that afraid that when a huge thing like this happens they just ignore it?

Obviously they have been asked to not discuss it, or they will get canned too.

O&A are suspended for a month, possibly fired for mentioning something on air that pissed off management. do you think there is any chance management would let R&F go on air with this shit? and do you think R&F would be dumb enough to do it?

no one is talking about because if they do, there is a chance they can be fired.

dont be a dummy, when ron read the statement yesterday opie said not to discuss this at all. there are plenty of ways to talk about them other then the ron and fez show. ron and fez are doing exactly what they should be doing "their show"

Talking about other shows' suspension/firing on the air accomplishes absolutely nothing. It doesn't bring them back, and it inevitably draws negative attention to your own show. I'm glad the buddays are doing "everyday" topics; it's a welcome distraction from all the melodrama unfolding around them.

They have done as much as they can, Ron did point out numerous times last night that O&A would be on Free FM today. Anymore than that would risk them getting themslves suspended or fired. Plus, I think anyone who has listened to the show "know" where R&F stand on the issue. No point in fighting in a battle which they cannot win and are not directly involved. Yes, it sucks, but I would much rather they sit this fight out and continue on the air the lose the battle and kill what is left worth listening to on the radio.

not really ... they're just exercising a degree of professionalism (that seems so lacking lately)

sometimes there're boundaries in life that we all have to adhere to, maturity (at times) means realizing there's a time to play along with a few rules

when these incidents occur, what's most shocking is how much of an act there is in our entertainment choices

they're radio performers, not gansters or rebels

They have things like Celebrity Fit Club and The Surreal Life to look forward to, I have none of that, Sean Hannity wont talk to me, and I will never have an E! True Hollywood Story made about me.

You're not really comparing Opie and Anthony getting fired to the Holocaust are you? I mean yeah this situation is totally messed up and speaks volumes on how much our country is going to hell in a hand basket, but comparing it the holocaust is just way off base and really kind of sick.

A:

Oh no! everybody panic! Ron said "fuck" a bunch of times today and there was completely uncensored sex in the studio (albeit with puppets). Not being able to discuss one topic is really nothing to freak out about. There's usually some kind of reason for limiting discussion on company related issues whether you agree with their decision or not.

Once, there was an issue on TiNR that I asked the DJ's not to talk about because it directly involved me and I wanted to address it first before on-air speculation by DJ's got started. No matter what kind of radio station it is, people tend to assume it's official when it's about the radio station and is broadcast on the radio station by station staff. I got hit with a bunch of people crying censorship too even tho I was the only one with the facts. They wanted to discuss hearsay, opinion and speculation.

The question is, do you want facts from xm or do you want a bunch of people filling 3hrs of Ron and Fez show with speculation and hearsay while screaming "bring back O&A!", "Fuck XM!", "censorship!", "freedom of speech!", etc? Personally, I'd rather listen to Ron and Fez do their thing.

I've read a bunch of threads and either I've missed it,
or noone has mentioned it yet.. but...

did O&A do a live show on FreeFM this morning ?

being from Columbus, Oh, I had to listen to "The Greggo Show"
and R&F replays.

I was just curious.... Since O&A are usually on XM simulcast
I don't have to worry about it.. but now that they aren't it would
be nice to catch their FreeFM show via other means. Streaming is
NOT a possability due to the environment in which I work. (you
know they place.. where they can tell you who out of 27,000 plus
people on the network is streaming audio, video, hell even who
has they yahoo widget engine running).

RogerPodacter
05-16-2007, 07:48 PM
The suspension isnt the issue per se. XM can do that if they want since they are a private corporation.

The problem is that O&A mocked an apology. The APOLOGY in the first place is what i have a problem with. They were forced to apologize to people who dont even listen to the show. Thats my beef.

How come the media isn't trying to find out what was said on May 14th that pissed XM off? I think I heard the whole show that day and I don't think they specifically addressed anything about the Homeless Charlie thing except they had rules of what they could say. Discussing limits must be off limits then.

At the very end of the show ron read a statement and talked about how everyone needs to keep cool about the suspension. R&F show is gagged from even mentioning. And the callers are dumped out if they try to bring it up on the XM show. Its pathetic times.

I tried to cancel and they claimed they couldnt find my account. Even with all my info. They said it must not be correct. Funny how on the same phone call, the first rep found my account with the info, but the cancellations dept could not, even though i was just transferred to them from the guy who could find it. They must be losing to many people and are just blatently trying to stop the cancellations. I dunno.
