Have online petitions ever worked? The most effective way to show a company how you feel is by sending actual letters. Piles of letters speak volumes.

If this is all some silly misguided brainfart on the part of XM
and the boy show backup, I may have to superglue one of my
receivers back together and re-up my sub...

Yes, please do anything you can to help get them back on the air as soon as possible, because quite frankly I just can't deal with the members of FBA right now!!~LOL
They are wearing me down, I won't survive 30 days of this if it goes that long

I dont think so if this comment is true. Here's my post:

If his brother's message is authentic, then O&A new what, when and why he was gonna post that message. I doubt they are coming back to XM. Think clearly. If there was a chance for them to return, do you honestly think his brother would post that message RISKING adding more fuel to the fire, ultimately getting them fired?!?! Hell no. He would talk to his brother, and keep his mouth shut to not further ruin things. But the opposite happened.

This is a message from the O&A camp without actually being from them, hence not violating conract or confidentiality agreements which were no doubtedly signed between O&A and XM regarding the suspension.

petitions haven't really worked in the past, aside from Family Guy (which was more about dvd sales than petitions). but if every o&a listener cancelled their subscription for 30 days it might send a message to xm.

when are these idiot corporations going to stop making knee-jerk reactions and bowing to tiny-but-loud 'special interest groups', and when will the advertisers realize that these loony-tune groups' proposed boycotts will amount to no lost revenue!?!?!?!?!? a handful of old ladies who send 50 copies of the same form letter feigning outrage are irrelevant!

How dare you inject your voice of reason and sense of logic into the outrage!?!

I felt bad for Inky today because someone at FBA was complaining they were running in plain text mode! inky's reply was hysterical though.

Mikey is right that online petitions are ineffective.

Mikey is incorrect that written letters save shows. Unless there's tangible evidence that the outpouring of support we gave Ron and Fez in 2002 gave them an extension from the day after Sex for Sam until January 2003, it didn't work then and it won't work now.

I wish I could be more supportive, but I can't. XM is doing what they are doing. I am unconvinced that a campaign of letters will change Hugh Panero and/or Mel Karmazin's mind.

This is really not a censorship issue. XM was very supportive until the boys supposedly harped on the issue more than they should have and then XM told them to sit in the penalty box for 30 days. The suspension is for insubordination, not content. There's a difference.

And again, I haven't listened to the shows, all I know is that O&A are suspended on the XM side and aren't talking about it on the CBS side (at least, they didn't talk about it for the first hour today, and that's all I heard)

Mikey didn't mention letters, that was me. I didn't say that letters would save the show, but if enough people send them and Panero's or Logan's desk is flooded with them, that shows the bosses just how much the show means to the fans. It could possibly persuade them either way.

E-mails can easily be deleted. With their addresses publicly available, I imagine they get much more spam than the average person, so it's just more to sift through. I never understood why this site have a "contact Ron and Fez" link at the bottom which links to their e-mail address. I'm sure they're hit with a ton of spam as well because of that. It should at least be hidden, like ronandfez at aol dot com. If people can't figure that out then their e-mail doesn't deserve to be sent.

If the cancellations and credits don't bring O&A back sooner, than surely a petition won't do a bit of good.

go ahead and waste your time signing a petition. It means dick and why do you people care so much about 2 assholes. If you were a bum in the street dopie wouldnt give to shits about you. He would walk over you to do what hes got to do.

I dont like them and do agree they should never have gotten fired, but to go crazy like this is stupid. Next time your at work go into a break room and talk about the exact same thing. See if you keep your job. You will be fired and these 2 wont be signing a petition for you. What they will do is read about it in the paper and shit on you over the radio to get a few more idiots to laughs.

This isnt about the 1st adm. You can say whatever you want, but others have the right to react. If they were put in jail over what they said then it would be against the 1st adm. If people with power dont like it then tough shit. Thats the Republican way. The only way there will be no rules for a radio host is to own his own show and broadcast it over the net. If someone is paying them money they can tell them to do backflips. If they choose not to then they are out of job.

The outrage is because they had to apologize in the first place. They sorta mocked the apology. THATS THE ISSUE. The suspension is only a result of being insubordinate to their superiors regarding a bogus issue to begin with. That is everybody's problem.

Summary
the "rape" comments -> apology: UNACCEPTABLE

"mocking" their boss for having to apologize for said "rape" comments -> suspension: EXPECTED

the free speech issue is the root cause of this.

Matty is incorrect. Letter writing and phone calls worked in 2000 when a the mid day show was canceled and then brought back on WNEW. The Radio Chick show was canned and then brought back due to fan re & pro action.

It was my understanding that a contract dispute and "we got nothing better" is what led to the Chick's return.

i always thought that it was the public outcry from the fans. i only remember that because i was big into her show at the time. i have no clue why.

I have set up a new website, specificly for the O&A show. Please come in and register your support for the show.

There is an easy 1 click email link (opens your email client) to send a pre-formatted letter to all the higher ups at XM, there is also a petition you can sign as well as alot of other info.

The advertisers that have pulled out in protest are also listed on the site. Please drop them an email and thank them for their support.

We may get the O&A show back, but what kind of show will it be? We need to tell these guys the the people that are PAYING for it like it the way it is.

Thanks all,
Jon
