Have you ever recorded a TV show, movie or sporting event, sat down to watch it and then it ends abruptly?
I recorded "Modern Romance" several weeks ago and sat down to watch it this afternoon. I had never seen it, so I'm watching and thoroughly enjoying it. All of a sudden the movie just stops. The characters were at a cabin and looked as if they were breaking up again and that's where it ended for me. Of course HDNet isn't replaying the movie, so I can't record it again.
Normally I pad my DVR for extra time, but for some reason I didn't with this movie. It recorded exactly 94 minutes, but apparently that wasn't enough time.
What have you missed?

I always forget to add time to South Park. I end up missing the moral of the show!

I miss a lot of stuff when the shows follow sporting events. I also miss stuff when shows (usually on NBC) decide to run a few minutes longer than an hour, and I've already set it up to record a show that follows on another channel.

When I had DirecTV, the only thing I had a problem with was South Park, like Fallon does. But now that I have Comcast, I have to basically set EVERYTHING to an extra 2 minutes. I wish there was a way just to set my tivo to set the internal clock one minute ahead, because it would solve like every problem.

i still use my vcr to record stuff (a vcr is an ancient device which uses cassette tapes to record tv shows). i add 5 minutes before the start time and 15 minutes after just in case. old technology can still be useful!

I've noticed IFC is really bad at running movies long. I always pad extra on that channel compared to all the others.
When I used to watch wrestling, Raw would end at different times each week, so I would pad an additional 30 minutes. I remember one week where even that wasn't enough time.

I usually add a few minutes to all shows but sometimes you cant b/c with my cable i can only record 2 shows at any one time and i ll miss the end of something
biggest problems usually come with raw or ecw since they're live and who knows when they will end, i add 10 minutes to the end of those shows

This happens a lot with Lost. I set my DVR to go an extra 10 minutes just in case. The DVR I got from Cox would automatically adjust for each show, so I never missed anything. I was in love with that thing.

My bro was telling me he had my mom record a sox yanks game for him. Unfortunatly she recorded the re-run of the night before's game and not the one he looked for. The cut-out at the end happens to lots of Pats games too apparently. Someday i'll get Tivo.

I hate it when I get the end of the show but it cuts off before they show the next week's teaser. Happens to me all the time on FX and HBO.

It happened to me the first time that I watched Rear Window. I was in my teens, and taping it off of a local network. I was enthralled by the movie up until the point that Grace Kelly enters Perry Mason's apartment, and Stewart sees Perry approaching his apartment.
Then the tape ran out. Damn I was pissed.

Then let me tell you how it ends...Grace Kelly ends up marrying a prince and becomes Princess Grace and then she died in a fiery car crash. Jimmy Stewart died of old age. There...now you know how it all ends...better?

I've since seen the ending, but thanks anyway.
all the big shows nowadays run wierd times, like Lost will run from 9:00 to 10:01 or some shit.
that fucks up my DVR because it thinks there is a conflict in the whole 10 o'clock hour

The only two shows I ever really hit a problem is Lost and South PArk. Lost will just hit the post and leave off the stuff for next week (I really don't care about that) and SP I had to pad. I think I had to pad the Simpsons too, but I forget.
And Cartoon Network always needs an additional 2 minutes at the end.
