When someone like Reverend Al comes a yacking to an advertiser, do you think that some of these companies jump at the opportunity to get out of there deal w/ a CBS, NBC etc. if they were losing money on the deal, or not getting the return they thought they would?

True, Sailor's no expert. Not even when it comes to sailing.

are you trying to say that the advertisers may make some shit up on purpose (not themselves but have a talking head do it for them) so they can get out of contracts and bad deals.

I would say yes. It wouldnt be the first time corporate america did something shady to make or save $$$$$

I would say this: There are two type of advertisers...corporate & local.

Local are more likely to stick with a show & be pissed about a show getting pulled. Imus is a perfect example of this.

Corporate are way more likely to pull out of a deal. It's a basic PR/Marketing strategy of get the hell out of the way-we are doing the right thing strategy. Plus if they are losing money, they found their out and they are out of the deal.

In the case of O&A and Imus, you are dealing with a corporate radio group & corporate advertising. The perfect storm.

but he was saying they made it up due to poor ratings which has no real basis in fact.

No I have owned a couple very profitable businesses, that I started , built up and then sold at their peek. I love making money, but I also like to see everyone have the same chances as I have had. I also have had some bad times in life and some people out there helped me and people every now and then need to be helped. Not everyone is born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

It always seems that people that have too much never want to help, but people who have little are the first to respond. Sounds like our present govt.
