Most of us can concur that this administration has been a disaster. However Congress has nothing to brag about. They have even lower ratings. Should they get the benefit of the doubt because the 110th Congress has been in power for only 5 months? In any case 29% isnt a good start

No, They Should Not Be Given The Benefit Of The Doubt. People Have Had 5 Months To Watch Them Perform, And Their Ratings Have Gone Down During Those 5 Months. People Do Pay Attention, And They Do Not Like What They Have Seen!

Congress almost always has low ratings. Typically much lower than the President. It takes a special type of loser prez to give Congress a run for their money. The majority of people like their Congressman, but hate the others.

A better comparison would be Presidential approval ratings vs. Approval ratings from Congresspersons' actual constituents.

Example: Do you think Nancy Pelosi's approval rating in SF is 29%? Hell, that William Jefferson guy from Louisiana got reelected even after being indicted for fraud. I don't want to comment on that in this post-Imus world, though.

i've said similar things before on here- I'm not really that impressed by a poll of what the american people think. 51% voted for bush, and i personally think you can not be intelligent and vote for what he represents.

let the shit fly...

And ironically Nancy Pelosi's approval rating is the highest of any government official. Everybody always hates Congress. Not that they don't deserve this somewhat. They haven't passed enough ethical reforms and their progress in trying to end the Iraq War is a work in progress, to be generous.

I wonder what Congress' approval rating will be once people start to hear what's in that immigration bill. First I heard it was 300 pages, then 600 pages, last I heard it was up to 1000 pages and they're still writing it.

Good for "Tiger Cage" McCain! Cornyn is a chickenshit.

He's also a borderline fascist: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Cornyn#Court_violence_controversy)

In September 2005, Cornyn sponsored a bill that would allow law enforcement to force anyone arrested or detained to provide samples of their DNA, which would be recorded in a central database.[13]

In the 2004 debate surrounding the Federal Marriage Amendment, John Cornyn released an advance copy of a speech he was to give at the Heritage Foundation. In the speech, he wrote, "It does not affect your daily life very much if your neighbor marries a box turtle. But that does not mean it is right... Now you must raise your children up in a world where that union of man and box turtle is on the same legal footing as man and wife." He removed the reference to the box turtle in the actual speech, but the Washington Post ran the quote. Jon Stewart on the Daily Show lampooned the quote, and a news blog called Box Turtle Bulletin was started.[10]

During senate hearings on a possible censure of President George W. Bush Cornyn attacked Democratic Senator Russ Feingold, arguing that censuring the president would amount to "aiding our enemies during a time of war".

Cornyn has been active in criticizing what he calls "activist judges". Cornyn caused a controversy in the wake of several high-profile violent crimes and death threats against judges when he stated on the floor of the U.S. Senate on April 4, 2005, that "raw political or ideological decisions" by judges cause "great distress" in many people and wondered aloud if this "distress" was the cause of the violence.

On March 9, 2006, retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor gave a speech in which she said of Cornyn: "It doesn't help when a high-profile Senator suggests there may be a connection between violence against judges and decisions that the Senator disagrees with."[21]
