i was just listening to channel 54 xm lucy. Cover Me by Candlebox was on and half way thru the song the word fuck is pretty clearly heard.. twice. I checked the song lyrics and indeed i saw fuck twice. xm lucy is not an xl channel.... xm is ok with outright cursing on a non xl channel but upset over not very racy talk on an uncensored channel because of race baiting special interest groups? and btw i have the song saved on my inno and fuck is heard at oddly enough about 2:02 into the song. anyways maybe PAC might want to bring this to XM's attention.
also heres a link to the song lyrics

Channel 12 - X Country also occasionally plays songs that have rough language. They play the hell out of the Gourd's version of Gin and Juice for instance. Kind of odd to hear stuff like that on a country channel.
If the word fuck has you upset, Ron is still saying it several times a show.

Stop bringing the PAC into this. THIS IS NOT ABOUT CENSORSHIP, O&A WERE SUSPENDED FOR INSUBORDINATION.
XL is used for hardcore stuff. An occasional "fuck" especially in a song doesn't qualify for XL status. It's like "shit", etc. being heard on FX for Rescue Me.

When your bosses tell you to expressly not bring an issue up on the air and then you do, your employers have the right to say or do something about it. The show is effectively their property. They're not censoring O&A in general out of a panic...they basically told Sharpton to fuck off and then asked O&A to drop that specific issue and move on so it would stop being a headache. They flat-out refused, disobeying a direct request/order from their employers. That's why they got suspended.

everyone relax already, the boys will be back in a few weeks, maybe less. we have no reason to think that XM is lying until they do. the argument "no one comes back from suspension" is not an absolute, O&A have been suspended how many times?

I think you are right. I have sweated through too many O&A suspensions in the last 6 or so years to get tooo worked up now. Things will be OK!

for anyone that thinks XM is lying, we dont know that until the month is up. how about less arguing and more support for Ron & Fez that now are filling 24 hours of radio for us.
thanks AK

And we know this for a fact because corporate suits always tell the truth? Especially when they are in a situation where their own jobs, prestige and future earning potential are on shaky ground because of a potential merger? OK then, that's good enough for me.

The wording of the press release left no doubt in my mind this was legit. This wasn't XM giving special interest groups more leverage. They basically said in so many words, "we're sending O&A into the corner for a time-out." There was no room for other translation, that combined with XM telling Sharpton to fuck off makes me think it's legit.

Oh, the good old days... When they didn't even use "radio edit" songs on FM....
Oh, and not only is not rare for people to come back from suspension, NOT coming back is a relatively new phenomenon.

I hope you're right and before Imus got taken down I probably would have shared your equanimity. But that li'l episode demonstrated to me how highly-paid corporate decision-makers can act against their own best long term interests (and ours!) when they get bum-rushed. I think we can agree there are a lot of variables in this equation (need for FCC goodwill with the potential merger, media witch hunters who now have the taste for blood, XM exec's egos, Mel K's ego, Opie and Anthony's egos, et al.) and everything has to go right to solve for X and get me back to the radio I'm used to. And if only one factor doesn't go right, we're faced with the prospect of Ronnie B standing outside in the pouring rain during a thunderstorm in Central Park, shaking his fists at the sky yelling "AGAIN? WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!!?"

Just bringing it back to the topic, Lucy and various other channels allow cursing in the songs if its light.
Maybe its just me but I got XM for O&A, loved when R&F came in, and started to really dig the music stations. You know since NYC doesn't have a rock radio station anymore.
And what would bringing the PAC into this prove....that XM is supportive of music lyric freedoms on some stations??

I'm thinking I might cancel my XM subs, if they don't include a music channel called "Ricky".

This is about censorship.
This suspension might be about O&A bringing the incident up again, but the initial problem was XM apologized for something that was said on an uncensored, pay channel. There should have been no apology and no talk between XM and O&A. That's what pissed us all off at 1st.
And fine, the suspension isn't a censorship issue. We're still pissed about XM shelfing O&A so they can push their stupid merger through a little easier. We want the show, we don't give 2 shits about the merger.

NO matter what they are still shutting O & A up right? Moe you make great points.
Norton said he thinks its the merger too.
