There is a coon-on-a-log documentary:
Judge Wooten and Coon-on-a-Log VHS
"Southern Folklore. Hunting Dogs. Raccoons. Coon Dogs. Hunting Contests. Directed by Herb E. Smith. Title on film is George Wooten, Leslie County Judge. A little film about a curious contest called coon-on-a-log, where dogs are timed at how quickly they can roust a raccoon off of a log in the middle of a deep stream. The filmmakers attended the 12th Annual Coon-On-A-Log contest to make this feature. Wooten, talks about the hunting and moon shining culture that surrounds the event. Notes: Some may find the "sport" objectionable."
