I still love it when the Ice Cream Man comes, I know I am in line with a Bunch of Soccer Moms and annoying Brats. But I get Icecream and Candy with having to drive. Do u you guys still buy Icecream for yourselves. I am 29 by the way.

Now, sometimes I hear it a few blocks away. And the jingle is distorted. Time seems to stand still. It gets dark.

Then it stops. I imagine it stops next to a small child who is alone.

His parents work. His older sister is a junkie and doesn't care that she locked him out.

He's on the curb. He is crying because the neighborhood bullies took his brand new backpack and he doesn't know how to tell his parents. He knows his mom will be especially disappointed.

But the ice cream truck gives him a little smile. His eyebrows raise.

He wipes his nose on his sleeve and goes to buy an ice cream sandwich with the dollar his grandmother gave him last weekend. He loved his grandmother. She is only one that is nice to him.

And the ice cream truck window opens. A fluorescent light shines on his face.

But then there is a quick shadow as two giant grotesque hands, covered in scarred skin and white liquid makeup grab him by the head.

A muffled scream, his eyes as wide as saucers.

A giant, evil looking clown with rows of teeth like a shark is the last thing he sees.

Two little feet kicking as the truck's side window slams shut is the last thing ... no one sees.

He is never seen again.






At least, that's what I think when I hear the ice cream man! Anyone else?

when i was around 7 or 8 i was standing on the corner. I had firecrackers and the Good Humor truck pulled up to the stop sign. i guess the driver thought i wanted ice cream but i wound up lighting a firecracker and threw it in the truck. I can remember the guy watching me and ducking his head as the firecracker went in the truck and went off.
I never believed i would have actually gotten the firecracker in the truck because i got so scared and ran around the block and hid behind a garage, trying not to breathe heavy for what seemed like hours...

I was just talking about this yesterday as i was outside with my boyfriend and we heard the truck coming around.

It was less a wanting of ice cream and more of the ices. We had a pretty round block when i was little so when we heard the music we usually had time to scramble for money. Also helped that there were only two ways to get out of the development and they gave you plenty of chasing street.

I remember the first time and last time i said no to an ice, i got a Choco Taco and threw up on the sidewalk.

This is so funny because I have lived here for 3 years and have never seen or heard an ice cream truck, but just last week I am sitting on the couch with all the windows open and I can hear this tinkly music. I get up look out the window and low and behold...there's a friggin' ice cream truck. I didn't go get anything from it, but its good to know that there is one around in case of an emergency!

I remember about 4 years ago... I was doing a show called "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" ... it was summer and very warm. The theatre was not very well ventilated and its a BIG dance show... so we were all running around backstage and out in the back lot of the theatre sweaty and half naked in big high heels and garter belts...

One matinee, the ice cream man drove by during intermission and one actor flagged him down. It wasn't long before we all were in line (in our skimpy lingerie... cleavage for days) ready to get our Snow Cones, Push Pops and Italian Ices... etc.... anything to cool off!

Needless to say ... that lucky ice cream man learned our show schedule and was back for every single intermission that summer... who could blame him!
