no way, with everything going on now in terrestrial radio, O&A need XM more than ever. they are barely surving on CBS now. XM has them by the balls, and they can do nothing about it. neither side is strong enough for O&A to try and parlay one against another.

I am having this thought about XM - is there a chance they will give Ron & Fez a longer show?

Right now, if you put them on from 12-4 it gives you 2 fewer "show slots" to fill, meaning you get 6 R&F shows a day instead of 8 (counting replays and Best Of's "equally").

When O&A return, each show gets a live set and full replay in every 24 hour period with roughly 4 hours of Best Of material mixed in (counting O&A as a 6 hour show).

Would that even be possible or is it wishful thinking?

honestly, i gave up on free radio last year and only returned to it for Ron and Fez. other than that, ipods, XM and the internet gets my listening time and $$$.

When WNEW went down, Ron & Fez was the biggest loss for me. I had even bought an FM amplifier so I could listen to them in my house.

I never got XM because (not understanding how it worked) I figured I wouldn't be in my car when they were on.

5 months ago I was in my car heading to a second job listening to FreeFM expecting Penn Jillette to come on at 6pm. I was completely blindsided by the Ron & Fez intro. When the ICP tune came on I nearly had to pull over I was so excited. This happened to be a job where I could listen to FreeFm online, it was such a great show about impressing poor foreign women with everyday mundane things. Ron: "I'll bring home a crackerjack box and she'll wear it like a necklace"

Fucking love those guys. I think I have to get XM now.

This is a sad day indeed.

Has there ever been a show more deserving of success and yet more dicked over than R&F? They have done double shifts everywhere they've worked, been pre-empted by sporting events in NY and DC, worked every air shift around the clock, never talked about corporate stuff on the air (except for that one time Ron threatened to choke a PD with a phone cord). They've never blown up their own spot, never bad-mouthed another DJ, never been in trouble with the FCC (even though Ron said the F word on WJFK once), and never took their fans for granted.

By general consensus, he meant of the people on this board. Th reasons: there's been nothing suggesting that Ron and Fez are leaving XM, indeed, given O&A's supsension and that 202 is now R&F 24/7, such a move makes little sense. Moreover, Ron interrupted his statement with the "And that's the end of my show" drop whic he has used before when making mock statements.

As for it being funny, if you realized it was a bit, then it was pretty fucking funny, because of the uproar and outrage it would cause.

I went to put on the show yesterday (although I did have a bad feeling after Ron's closing statements the day before...) and was greeted by Rush. Great.

I started to cry.

I've been listening to Ron and Fez for longer than I can remember...since the Ron and Fez.com days. When there was the controversy on WNEW with O&A, I remember Ron and Fez were playing country music and pretending the station had changed to that kind of format.

I was hoping that this was the case when I turned on the radio last night...then I heard them say "K-Rock" and my heart dropped.

Well, I can't afford XM, I don't have a secure internet connection to play it on, I don't have a car to get a player for since mine was stolen. So I'm going to be going into Ron & Fez withdrawal.

It was absolutely fantastic while it lasted, and the past six months have been great for me between 6-9 pm. Thank you Ron & Fez, for the past 7-8 years. I'll hopefully get to listen to the XM show soon enough.

p.s. There's really nothing like the New York shows...
