The FMQB article linked above:

The countdown for the new format at 92.3 FM in New York City started this morning after Opie & Anthony finished off their morning show. At 5pm today, the return of the WXRK call letters and 92.3 K-Rock will replace the failed experiment know as Free-FM.

Anchored by O&A in the mornings (from 6-9am), K-Rock will feature music from the '90s and today, with a core of U2, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots, Papa Roach, Green Day, and Foo Fighters, according to a pitch sent by CBS sales which also touts "K-Rock has a history of dominance in reaching young men" and "delivers a young, active consumer - that will drive advertiser results." It also promises to super serve 25 to 34 year olds.

The sales pitch also states, "K-Rock was a 20 year old rock brand... known for ratings success, great events, and strong advertising partnerships. After almost 2 years without a true Rock station in New York --- we believe the prospects for success are now greater with K-Rock. The good news is that none of our competitors filled the void we left in 2005... and now we have a second chance to bring K-Rock back to New York."

Now that summer is approaching, CBS promises that, "K-Rock will be everywhere our listeners are starting today. From the coolest concerts in the tri-state area, to the beaches of New Jersey and Long Island, to the best night spots, to malls, parks, rest stops, sporting events, and much much more. K-Rock will be EVERYWHERE!"

The bottom line from CBS sales pitch promises, "We will guarantee that K-Rock is a great rock station --- filling a void in New York radio--- and delivering results for our clients!!!"

If you missed it - FMQB's article is updated and says it is official - O&A 6-9am - Music the rest of the day.

http://www.fmqb.com/Article.asp?id=412351

Sorry if someone caught it earlier - it is a much longer article than it was.

Hope R&F can get a second show back if they want one.

the only way this could be a positive is if the boys interview the white stripes

Sorry buddays, I got a late start today.. Not to complain, but Earl sucks donkey dick with with the replays. I was listening around 6am this morning and they were speaking with someone and talking about their movie that was being released on DVD. I have no idea how old this clip was, or even if it was from yesterday's show because of Earl. The best part!.. As Ronnie was about to reset everything the show cutoff and went to commercial, when the show came back we were somewhere else in that show, or possibly another one. All I know is that the movie had something to do with the trade center, and they made the comment that studios didn't want to release it to closely to 9/11. If anyone can help me out with the director's name and the movie name it would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks buddays

Ooooowwww...this is close to home these days...

One of my best friends became the caretaker of his 70+ year old uncle who got released from prison after 24 years last fall, and the guy was a certifiable nut-job; things came to a head when the old man called the police on my friend saying he had been "kidnapped." The police showed up, guns drawn. When things calmed down, the old man was admitted into the nut-hut - my friend is still very shook up over the whole thing.

To be fair to Dave, unless you really know him, you can't know how much of what he says is an act for the show, or truly him. I've only met the guy twice, so I can't say.

That's why when I ridicule some stupid things he says, I'm going to refer to him as ESD rather than Dave.

To be fair to Dave, unless you really know him, you can't know how much of what he says is an act for the show, or truly him. I've only met the guy twice, so I can't say.

That's why when I ridicule some stupid things he says, I'm going to refer to him as ESD rather than Dave.

in the beginning of dave's time on the show (when he still used to post) i said i thought he was doing an act, and he pm'd me and said he was always being himself.

i still hold him to that.

The ending to today's Ron and Fez Show was a test of the Bennington Rube Test. Ron Bennington, in voluntary cooperation with XM and other authorities, have developed this test to determine the number of rubes listening to the show. If this had been an actual end to the show, you would have been referred to your mom's box. This concludes the Bennington Rube Test for today. Standby for your regularly broadcast Best Of, or more likely something Earl threw together quickly.

Nothing he said. However, I have to believe it is given that 1) R&F leaving XM is completely out of nowhere with no apparent reasons for it, and 2) Ron's propensity to end shows with those type of jokes that are interrupted by "And that's the end of my show."

It was more like a closing statment which I can't recite word for word, where he essentially said thanks to XM, O&A and the listeners, and that they were on to other things, although noting that he couldn't think of what was higher than a satellite. The last line was interrupted by the "And that's the end of my show" drop.
