From now until June 6, Ancestry.com is giving free access to over 90 MILLION Military Personnel Records.... (http://landing.ancestry.com/military/collections.aspx?html=main&URL=military%2fcollections.aspx%3fhtml%3dmain&o_iid=31811&o_lid=31811&o_it=30793&offerid=0%3a7858%3a0)

They have some pretty cool stuff over there. For those of us who have lost loved ones that served the country, seeing their records is a really unique way to connect to them. Each of those 90 million records is more than just a bunch of data....they're living reminders of those who have sacrificed their time, effort, and lives to serve our country.

If you have a relative that served, take some time to look at his records. It can really help you to connect to that person, and if they have passed on, its really the only living memory of them still left. And it can also inspire a lot of pride to see where your relatives fought, and who they fought with. I cannot describe in words the pride i feel about my Uncle Marvin, who helped throw the Germans back out of the Bulge with the 2 ID, or my mother's father, who helped MacArthur retake the Phillippines, or my ancestor Pvt. Marcus Mauck, who was one of General Jackson's Foot Cavalry, and helped throw the Yankees out of the Valley in 1862.

Take some time and check it out if you can

I have a membership to ancestry.com already, and it is a great resource. This makes it even better.

I found my Dad on that site. Pretty cool. It sent me on an almost 30 minute jaunt of googling his name. I miss the man, but he lives on in "the internets".
