There are certain movies that you simply have to watch if you stumble upon them while flicking around. It doesn't matter if you've seen it a hundred times, and you might've even watched it the week before.

It's insane.

For some reason, "Predator" is like that for me. I can recite every line, and yet I can't turn it off if I come upon it.

"RUN! GET TO THE CHOPPER!!!"

Everytime I see someone bleeding I always say, "if it bleeds, we can kill it." Predator is such a great movie.

Jaws is great as well, in almost every respect. Bernard Shaw puts that movie over the top though. So amazing.

I never turn off Jaws -- even if it's on TBS (depite the fact that I own the DVD). Great movie. The other one like that for me is the first Die Hard.

Quint is about to tell the storie about the Indianapolis. It always reminds me of Anthony telling the story like Quint. Black eyes like a dolls eyes.

I just bought the DVD a couple of weeks ago. The beginning has some slow spots but from the time they get on that boat, the movie flies.

"We're gonna need a bigger boat"

"Why is it he's leading us deeper out to sea rather than us leading him into shore?"

For me it's "The Crow". Doesn't matter what channel, or what part of the movie I turn it on to, I must always watch it.

I'll watch it every time, too. I saw it in the wee hours of the morning today! I watched Jaws 2 also. I forgot how bad it was, but I had a HUGE crush on Donna Wilkes! (on the left)

How about "JAWS 3-D"? Wasn't there also a "JAWS 4" where yet another great white started hunting down Chief Brody's family?

I like Jaws, but it has never been one of my favorites. I don't know why, but I have always thought it was a little hokey. It scared me as a kid, but I guess I have become too jaded as I have gotten older.

However, you can't beat Quint's story about the Indianapolis - that damn thing is rivetting.

If you listen to the commentary track on the DVD, they said there were 3 versions of that speech and nobody liked any of them. So Robert Shaw, who apparently was a nasty drunk through most of the shooting, took the 3 versions and came up with the one in the movie.

It says alot that I've been to four snorkeling and diving beaches since I bought my copy of Jaws and nobody has been willing to watch it in those towns. They've always had bigscreen TVs in the restaurants or hotels where we watched my other DVDs, but nobody wants that Jaws theme song in their head the next day.

Ha!

I saw differents parts of it all weekend
Jaws is one of those movies with so many classic lines:

"This was no boating accident"
"Smile, you son-of-a-bitch!"
"We're gonna need a bigger boat"
"Black, lifeless eyes, like a dolls eyes"
"You go in the cage, cage goes in the water, shark is in the water. Farewell and adui to you fair Spanish Lady"

CLASSIC! A movie for the ages!

I caught it twice this weekend. Can't turn it off.

I don't bother with the other ones. They're nothing to me.

"This is not the time or the place to perform some kind of a half-assed autopsy on a fish... And I'm not going to stand here and see that thing cut open and see that little Kintner boy spill out all over the dock"

"I got no spit"

I always thought that would have been the perfect opportunity for Quint to spit on Hooper.

Talk about a Movie that has got legs.

Well you're half right.

I was talking to a guy last night who works on a yact owned by a rich American family and he travels around the world taking them scuba diving and dining on exotic poor people. I asked him if he's ever watched Jaws before diving and he said he hadn't seen it in a while because it's so outdated that it just isn't that scary. Well I took issue with that. Aside from the brilliant cinematic story-telling that draws you into characters to make the scary bits more powerful there are scenes in that movie that would be just as creepy and disturbing today as they were back in 1975.

Here's just a couple of examples:

The short panicked breaths of the first girl after she first gets hit by the shark. (Admittedly oddly hot too.)

http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/8655/jaws113adp3.jpg

The fountain of that little Kintner boy's blood, which is preceded by the shot of the giant pectoral fins of the shark turning over with the kid in his mouth and followed by little Alex being lifted out of the water in horrible agony.

http://img118.imageshack.us/img118/9818/jaws128cu6.jpg

And the scariest scene of all:

http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/9383/jaws133mn0.jpg

Old man Harry's titties.

It is infinitely watchable. It has one of those indefinable qualities of a film that makes it truly amazing.

IGN had a spoof about prequels that should never be made... But I think they might actually have struck gold with the Jaws one (http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/08/18/horror-prequels-we-hope-hollywood-never-makes?utm_campaign=ign+main+twitter&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social).

The Pitch: This gripping historical epic centers on a young Quint (Wahlberg) as a naval officer on the U.S.S Indianapolis, famously hit by a Japanese torpedo in 1945. Director Darren Araonofsky (Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan) boldly examines that chilling night, casting an unflinching eye on the crumbling humanity of Quint and his men as they try to survive against a host of great white sharks. Never one to shy away from gritty topics, Aranofsky has filmed 95% of Jaws (http://movies.ign.com/objects/039/039723.html): The Beginning in the water, where 588 officers get painstakingly picked off one by one in an array of gruesome scenarios across four hours. But what is real and what is nightmarish delusion? You’ll soon find yourself questioning your own sense of reality while watching the movie critics are already calling “Aranofsky’s most ambitious work yet” and “the bleakest film you’ll see all century.”

Now... Just make it like Prometheus. Yeah it's a prequel to Alien but not a direct prequel just another story that takes place in the "alien universe". Same thing... Don't even connect it with Jaws but the main character is Quint.

I think they did make a TV movie or something about the Indianapolis years ago though.

Id watch it. The only thing is theyd get alot of shit because most of the people that died from the Indianapolis did so from either injuries from the attack or dehydration resulting in drinking ocean water and losing their minds. Very few of them actually died from a shark attack.
