Did Earl say he was going to leave the show if he doesn't get Ron Wood in the studio within a certain time? If so what's the date that was set? I only caught the tail end of the conversation but this seems like a tall order for Earl to fill.

'first day of summer'- 21st June 2007 is deadline for Ron Wood coming into the studio for an interview.

He has promised this a number of times over the last few months and the stipulation that he would leave the show was confirmed, by Earl, yesterday.

So I guess it's less than a month before Earl's on unemployment.

What else do expect from a guy who thinks Sly and the family Stone is the most influential band of all time?

Earl will not leave the show. He will have some excuse, or will just refuse to leave.

I thought that at first too but I do believe Earl has some dignity and honor. I think if he doesn't come through he will "man up" and resign.

He will never quit. Fez nailed it when he accused Earl of trying to double speak on the Bible yesterday when he was being grilled about the phone calls on Lily's behalf. I notice this all the time when he gets caught in a lie. I doubt he will be able to get a Stone on the show by the deadline. The way he was saying stone leads me to believe that he will bring in a rock or something stupid like that to keep his job.

Or not.

Now, this begs the question, How much wood could a Ron Wood chuck if a Ron Wood could chuck wood?

Good luck Earl, you are going to need it.

Maybe Earl found an old transporter from a Star Trek set, and he's going to zap Ron Wood's particles across the universe.

Earl always goes down with the Titanic, He would have to be fired by Upper Brass in order to leave. Also Earl would be great if he was not an "On Air" Producer, Earl Gets guests and knows how to work the equipment. He is just On Air Cancer without a personality.

He better make sure that rock is completely free of moss*, otherwise it's just a token.

*Unless of course it's attached to Kate Moss.

Well, if Earl can get that time machine of his, I'm sure he can get a transporter.

I don't know, the Al Dukes thing was serious. He actually left no air duties for the show, it was for real.

If we've learned ANYTHING listening to Ron and Fez all these years, it's that the show always goes on no matter who is there.

I think if this guy doesn't get booked it could spell a real problem for Earl.

Would that be the "Black-As-Midnight Rider?"

He'll probably get Sly Stone or Sharon Stone. He just said "a stone".

By now, Earl has squatters rights and cannot be made to leave his home without a court order.

While they didn't mention it recently, a month or so ago they brought up Ron Wood again and they said that they had to give Earl more time since the Stones' tour was extended.

I'd imagine that if Earl had him solidly scheduled for the future by the 21st they'll give him a pass.

I agree with the "on air cancer", but he barely gets guests, even though Ron does the best interviews, and he barely runs the board. Earl is a no-talent fumbling, bumbling yes-man who hasn't had an original thought nor action in 37 years. Earl should keep his mouth shut and if he never speaks again, it would be too soon.

Ditto!

Earl's only talent is finding new and innovative ways to blame others for his screw ups.

I am not in radio, but I suspect the duties of the "Executive Producer" should be more than being a board op who occasionally books an obscure guest.

Maybe they are planning on Earl leaving. Today they were talking about giving Earl's responsibilites to Pepper, Lilly and the Rooster. Could this be a sign of things to come?

No. i think Earl will fail to produce any of the rolling stones and yet remain on the show. he'll try to wiggle out of the agreement.

if earl really sucked so bad, wouldn't they just fire him?

doesn't it make more sense that earl's incompetence is just an ongoing bit?

ANY member of the Stones would be an extremely tall order! But Earl DOES know alot of people in the Music Business, and there is a minute possiblity that maybe he can contact someone about it who might know a friend of a friend, etc...Earl does get around! Let's give him the benefit of a doubt here and give him a chance. I want to see what he can do! If he is successful, then we can say that there is not much else to TOP it! GOOD LUCK, Earl! You are BRAVE!!!!

Did the bet stipulate that the Stone has to be in-studio?

Because I've got to think if Earl has any connections at all, he can pull off a shitty 5-10 minute phoner with Ron Wood

If it has to be in-studio, he's obviously screwed because the Stones are in Europe.

No matter what happens, though, Earl's not leaving...he never will...he's a survivor and he will last until someone either forciably fires him (which i don't think R&F would do) or someone was actually daring enough to pick up his Black Rock Coalition show and put it on-air.

He'll probably get Sly Stone or Sharon Stone. He just said "a stone".

The way Earl said he would get a "stone" made me immediately think he would pick up a stone off the ground and pull it out when challenged. And then he will play the recording that said he would have a stone.
