Today on the show I felt like I heard 2 dumps. I went back in the listening thread and it looks like other people heard it too. Is there a delay now on XM? Or is it just a weird blimp? Any how the conversation definately jumped a couple of times. Strange indeed.

I think there's always been a delay on XM so that they can dump in case of something that might be considered libel or slander or whatever.

I only noticed one time that seemed like a dump today. It didn't seem like the conversation was heading toward anything that would need to be dumped out of, so I figure it was just some sort of technical problem (weird blimp).

As I was reading your post, the weatherman in the background was making a lame joke about weather balloons. Weird.

They must only edit the replays. Yesterday I got Dave's full Visa debit card number and ordered a 32" HDTV for $499.
Alas, the card ended up being rejected. I forgot to factor in the tax. Damn you Dave and your measly $500 balance.

Maybe XM decided it was better to edit their on-air talent rather than suspend them.

I too, heard the 2 dumps during the live broadcast. I think XM installed a delay (no, they didn't have one before the suspension). There was a caller in the 3rd hour that talked and then you could hear his radio in the background and it seemed 30 seconds behind. There was at least one conversation where Ron and Dave were talking and it seemed to cut off and then picked back up and I thought it was me, glad to hear it wasn't just me.

Sad that we live in a new world where words hurt and even though they market XM as uncensored, they censor themselves.

A little off topic, but similar - did I hear Ron say that they were going to tear the whole f'ing studio apart anyway in a few days after he spilled water by doing him impression of Casey earlier? Are they going to do away with the studio altogether?

I think he was referring to the upcoming remodel.

I listen via XM Online and there is a lag. Also, radio, even without a delay, isn't instant.

Right, most 'radio' shows have anywhere between a 7 second (norm) to a 3 minute(O & A) delay. If/when you call R & F and are on hold, what you hear through your ear piece and the XM broadcast are almost in sync, give or take a half second or 2, not 30 seconds. Not to be a dick, but radio and XM are totally different.

I know there's a pretty big delay when you're listening online. On the listening thread, I'll see people post responses to jokes that I haven't even heard yet. It's possible the caller you're referring to was listening online.

Thanks MK, I didn't know they were planning on remodeling the studio. Didn't they just do that not too long ago with the mirrors on the ceiling and stuff?

If you mean talk shows, yes.

Most radio shows spill out live; the only delay being the inherent latency due to the speed of electrons in circuitry, many studios have no delay system whatsoever. Ditto with a lot of TV.

The 'longer' delays of seven-whatever seconds mean inherent systems to delay the broadcast purposefully, as in talk shows.

And with satellites, longer delays due to some of the distances involved, and more circuitry of repeaters and amps and signal processing adding up; and/or uber long delay systems.

And not to be a dick either [was anyone being a dick? is this a bad thing? I digress...] but at the base of it XM and radio arent really different at all. It's all radio, really, cel phones microwave ovens, X-rays arent very different; it's all just diff parts of the same spectrum. Delivery is a bit diff w satellites, but again; and the signal carries diff info coz of the much higher frequencies [GHz instead of KHz and MHz of AM/FM, but in the end it's all transmitters and recievers spraying out and catching signals. Very different parts of a beast with many different qualities, but the same beast.

I couldn't listen today, so i can't comment on that particular show...
But the only "dump" I've ever heard on XM that i knew was an actual dump out was the day after the O&A Suspension...
Ron was talking about what animals you could kick to death... A caller said that he'd like to kick an XM executive to death.... The dump out wasn't great (I knew what the caller said) but it kept things sane during uncertain times...
I really don't mind a dump out in that situation... If it keeps R&F out of trouble with the boss, I'm all for it...

I must have missed the dumps today, but I have noticed that the N word has been edited out of any of the best-ofs, but that could just be Earl.

I heard one on a Best of that had a hayseed caller that said the N word, and they dumped out of the n word because Ron and Dave said "HEY!!!" and then they played the white people are so scared of black people song after...so that proves they edited the best of.

I heard the origional show and he said the whole N word.

I know what you are saying, but different shows have different broadcast delays. Not to beat a dead horse, but O&A have a 2-3 minute delay because of the high chance that more things will get dumped.
