I appreciate Staten Island for its' plethora of quality Irish Pubs, especially Jimmy Max on Watchogue Ave. Even though I've live in Jersey for all but 6 months of my life, I've spent more time drunk in this establishment than all other places on the planet combined. Every Summer Sunday for the last 6 years it's been our post-softball home base for libation. One of my favorite places on Earth.

this might be the loneliest thread
but i heard there's a really great pizza joint, and there's that music shop mentioned in that jonie mitchell song
otherwise ... there's nothing to like or enjoy about staten island, and anytime the wanna secede -- let them go
even the yankee stadium there is a dump, nice views though
mildly amusing

the SI Yanks Stadium is gorgeous, it's nowhere near a dump - granted the area just outside of it sucks, but that's poor planning on the city's part.
Outside of some fine Italian Cuisine, there isn't anything to appreciate about SI.
Ahhh yes Staten Island, my birthplace and home... up until 2 years ago.. My favorite things about Staten Island:
- Denino's Pizza (especially the Hot Scungilli)
- Ralphs Ices
- Adobe Blues
- Pre-gaming on the SI Ferry on the way to the city
- Not getting pulled over on Bay Street for running a red light after the sun goes down.
- NEVER Driving down Jersey Street.....EVER

I stand corrected - they both rule! They opened up a Ralph's nearby on Hylan near Great Kills, so no more long drives to Port Richmond for me :)

Yeah that's right by where I grew up where my parents live... Before that I would go out to that place on Amboy down in Pleasant Plains that serve Ralph's.

Are you phucking kidding me? The women have looks on their phaces like someone farted in their phaces. The traffic? The dump? The attitude? The Napoleon Complex of the natives? I can go on and on about what is not to like about the Corkey borough.
What is good about it?
Ralph's (best ices)
Denino's (2nd best pizza in the 5 boroughs)
The Marina Cafe (great food, good service, nice view)
Silver Lake Park (great for a walk in the day time, great to get lucky in at night, clove lake it too crowded)
Kilmeyer's (the best place anywhere for German food and beer)
The Kreicher Mansion (the place was haunted, Dark Shadows remake was filmed there)
SIU Hospital (they took care of Grammy really well, after i almost beat up a doctor.)
King Hippo lives there
other than that, "i think it stinks and i dont like it"

sorry, i was sleeping. had i known such a thread existed, i would have stayed awake. Notice, i wasnt too hard on Staten Island. I will add: something i dont understand is why the SI Yanks games are never sold out unless The CYCLONES are in town. SI Yanks stadium is maybe the nicest minor league stadium in the NY PENN league. easy to get to, great view. they just need Nathan's hot dogs and fries to be sold there. One thing Staten Island is lacking is a great bagel store. Brooklyn and NJ both have Bagel Boy's which maybe the best bagel store i have ever been too.
Stu it is also the fastest way to get from Brooklyn to NJ.
yeah, i thought of that after i posted. That is very true. Planning the wedding last year in Hoboken I learned that my short cuts around SI made the trip alot faster than cutting through the city, which is shorter.

Stugots you sound like every other jerk off dago from brooklyn. Point of fact the only thing wrong with staten island is the goddamn bridge. Once you let the Italians in, the whole place went to shit. You can tell just by looking at a house that it belongs to an I T. Usually stucco, some AWFUL color ( most likely from the old country) and they all have lions on the outside of the house. You wanna know what a staten island Italian is like? Watch Saturday Night Live and watch the " assholes " sketch. Got it down to a t. This whole fucking thread got waayy too italian way too fast.

with you insults not with standing. are you a native staten islander? are you the type that never leaves the island? my mom (who is Italian) never had any of that shit on her house, in brooklyn or staten island. just siding and an awning (is that ok?), no cement in the front lawn, just grass. nice big back yard with a cement pad for the deck.
am i still the jerk dago from brooklyn? i did live in staten island for 12 years so i am not just talking out of my ass. i dont know why you decided to attack me with such harsh words in the middle of a funny ass thread.
