I think it could be good. I like a few of the acts that they listed on there.

sure why not, I'd like to see the WHite Stripes do an unplugged. It's better than pimp my ride or some of the other absurd shows that have nothing to do with music.

I always liked the rap edition. Cool J and MC Lyte rocked it.

"Bon Jovi is credited with inspiring the "Unplugged" format after its stripped-down performance on the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards."

I thought Howard invented unplugged performances. Hoo Hoo. Tell 'em Fred.

John Mayer Unplugged? Isn't that just John Mayer?

Mary J. Blige? Where are the instruments normally that they would need to be unplugged?

Did they tell you this is John Mayer unplugged?

I always liked the idea behind the series but none of those choices interests me in the least.

I hope the Pumpkins do it again now that they're coming back...they did it once in the 90s, but only for MTV Europe.

Also, Pearl Jam would be a nice get.

VH1 had a nice run with Storytellers, but you never knew when it fucking aired so it never got much heat behind it.

My fear, though, is that MTV will ruin this like everything. I remember the last time they brought Unplugged back, Jay-Z was rapping and playing a flute.

It'll get cancelled and replaced with another lame show with people no one cares about.

CMT's CrossRoads isn't a bad show....i just wish they would come up with some better pairings...I did enjoy the Elton John/Ryan Adams one along with the Alison Krauss/Vince Gill performance and the Ray Charles/Travis Tritt one wasn't bad either

Pearl Jam already did one.

And I agree with you completely on Storytellers. I really like the Johnny Cash/Willie Nelson one.

They've brought this show "back" like 4-5 times since its main run...why should we think it'll stick around this time as opposed to the others?

What current bands are they going to have on this show? Fall Out Boy? I don't see this lasting.

Agreed, I was also a big fan of the Tom Waits one.

They still have MTV? Seriously, when was the last time MTV was relevant? Last time I checked, the channel the launched to actually be a music television network (MTV2) went the way of the original, stopped playing videos, and just showed awful reality shows and teen soaps. Was MTV really this bad when I was 13?

Nirvana's did the best of them all.

The new Unplugged show, the first one being with Bon Jovi, will premiere on CMT.

So check your listings to find the CMT network!

MTV and VH1 will air the repeats.

CMT's CrossRoads isn't a bad show....i just wish they would come up with some better pairings...I did enjoy the Elton John/Ryan Adams one along with the Alison Krauss/Vince Gill performance and the Ray Charles/Travis Tritt one wasn't bad either

Crossroads is a great show... there is a new one next month but it hasn't been decided which one to air.

I was at the Dave Matthews/Emmy Lou Harris one. Fantasic.

As for any music channel and videos: videos do not get big ratings, so original programming has to be introduced or the network fails, therefore there will always be less and less videos over time on any music network until they're all but converged into a half hour show, like TRL. You want to see videos? Go to MTV.com, VH1.com or CMT.com.
Practically every video that was ever made you can find on those sites.*

*and so concludes my semi-annual rant on why MTV doesn't have videos, from someone in the business.

I would like to see some groups that you wouldn't normally hear unplugged, like Disturbed or Korn.

It really shows that your music will stand up if you are a Rock/Hard Rock band, you can perform your stuff accoustically, and it is still cool.

Alice in Chains and Nirvana unplugged were great ideas and came off amazing. Those are two of my favorite all-time albums.

One of the best ones.

I have it on DVD, uncut.

YEah, I'd have to agree that Alice in Chains was the best of the 90's unplugged

For the new bands, I'd like to see the Decemberist do an unplugged session.

Years ago, Prince and The NPG shot an unplugged episode.
There was a commercial for it which featured a two-second clip from the episode. The show itself never aired.
I suspect that it will never ever surface.

Too bad it was taped before the internet was invented. I'd pay top dollar to see that thing in high quality.

It seems like a lot of you are overlooking how great and poignant "Jay Z Unplugged" was.

One of the funniest fucking things I've seen on youtube is clips of him in the MTV studio doing his songs that sound identical to his albums, and everyone in the audience was dancing really intensely as if they were in a club, but they're all sitting down. I imagine it's what a paraplegic sock-hop would look like

i didn't even smile when i typed out that last sentence, but then i read it out loud and laughed out loud

i woulda mentioned that if Jay Z wasnt an awful rapper with terrible songs who mindbogglingly got famous. Alot of people get all uppity when i say this but alot of people also agree. Jay Z is really nothing special

I liked the LL Cool J one where it looked like he was smuggling cocaine in his armpits. I liked Jay Z, Nirvana, and Alice in Chains, most of the popular ones. I also would like to see that prince one if it is out there.
