Bono says bad word, broadcaster doesn't use dump button, gets fined, fined gets overturned. (http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070604/broadcast_indecency.html?.v=4)

Remember this one? I think this was after the Janet Jackson nipple-gate during the Super-Bowl halftime show. Apparantly, cooler heads have prevailed. Hopefully more people in the broadcast industry will see this and relax. After all, these are just words. If you didn't hear them, they can't hurt you. And if you did hear them, and you were hurt, tough shit. My constitution says that's cool.

By the way, the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction was tossed out of court last week. CBS does not have to pay the $550,000 fine.

But, ironically, it probably cost CBS AND the FCC more than that to take it to the court system.

No one wins, no one loses. A "non-story" at its best.

I couldn't access the link but if it's true, I disagree. CBS obviously felt that it was in their business interest to spend whatever legal fees they spent to create a precedent that can be used against the FCC in the future.

Definitely a win by CBS.
