There's one commercial they play on XM where they play a clip from what sounds like a Roy Rogers show or something from the 50's and the announcer says "At the time we didn't understand that either" and then it mentions Live Earth. The commercials just sound so stupid.

I believe it says that we'll find out on 6/6 so I think it might be about this:
From DCRTV
XM Plans Radio Re-Creation Of D-Day - 5/29 - On 6/6, DC-based XM Satellite Radio's 1940's channel, The 40s (XM-4), will re-create radio's coverage of the D-Day invasion of the Normandy coast of France. Beginning with the first bulletin from that morning, which aired at 12:41 AM (ET), XM will air in real-time NBC's original radio news bulletins of the invasion (currently housed in the National Archives) as heard by radio listeners nearly 63 years ago. The special will be based on the original NBC broadcast schedule, which is cataloged in the Library Of Congress, and will conclude at 5:45 PM on 6/7. The marathon will also feature music of the era as well original archival reports from radio commentators, including HV Kaltenborn, Merrill Mueller, and the other members of NBC's news staff.....
though now that I think about it, I can't figure out why they would be calling that Live Earth, so I'm probably completely wrong.

i hate the commercials too, but its actually a big live aid/live 8 type thing to raise money and attention to climate change. xm is gonna broadcast all the concerts from around the world:

Gimmie a break, it's early.
Live Earth (7.7.07) (http://www.liveearth.org/) - . Since the United States portion is in New York, it would be nice if John Mayer decided to stop by and remind us of who he is.
The Roy Rogers Commercial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yovcb78ffTs) - is part of this 1 hour video; in the commercial, Roy is selling a cowboy hat for children that has a gun that pops out of the top on a spring a shoots other kids. I can't imagine there was ever a time that this wasn't creepy.

Ok I understand that and even understand the implications from the audio in the commercial, what I don't understand is what does this have to do with Live Earth and the environment?

Exactly!
I hate bullshit promos like this. Tell us what the f@#$ is going on or shut the f@#$ up.
Also, that a$$hole announcer sounds smarmy and like he is talking down to you. Guess what - F@#$ You!
I'm not going to listen simply on principle. Treat me like an adult and tell me what is going on or go s@#$ in your hat!
Can anybody tell I'm having a bad day?

All I know is that that one commercial where it talks about the turtle taking cover from a nuclear explosion or some shit gets me thinking of that bit O&A did a while back where they were singing the whole "duck and cover" thing... wow, I cannot explain things.
