The only thing scary about cleveland is the amount of empty storefronts we have in our fair city. Every 3rd store has an actual business in it. Even Alice Cooper's restaurant, which is directly across the street from Jacobs Field, couldn't do enough business because the city is so empty.

well I do not know about kidnappings but I know for sure I do not want to have to track down lost luggage or exchange money there again. I would be sure to pack the essentials in my carry-on and enough reais to get me through a week or so next time I visit.

Some of my relatives lived there for many years post WWII waiting for a sponsor to bring them to the US, and they still have contacts there, which helped me get by whilst traveling. I am not sure what I would have done if I knew no one and had no recourse for assistance finding my baggage or getting a decent exchange to pay for basics like lodging and food while on my journey. Oooof! Brazil is full of life and light but there is a dark and seedy underside of which you have to be vigilant if you want to enjoy it unscathed.
