The hayseeds made them unfunny.

It's hard to build a pyramid with seeds of hay.

My proudest R&F call was when I called in to do the Paul-O bit and I ended it doing the "geh-geh-geh" to the tune of the Imperial March from Empire Strikes Back.

It might just be a silly thought, but isn't Steve suspended from XM? Would that mean they couldn't use the "comedy pyramid" sounder when they wanted to because it was Steve?

I have to appologize if I'm waaaay off base because I've been without my xm for a while.

No sir. I don't have XM, so I rarely get to listen.

I only tired to call in under my board name once, and I think it was Billy who hung up on me right away. Every time I've been on the air it's just been as "Kevin." I called at least 2-3 times a week back in the overnight days...once they shifted out of there, I sort of tailed off. I guess as there shifts got earlier in the day, some fire died inside of me.

Nah, no Free FM R&F goodness here, though we do get O&A, so maybe sometime in the future. I have access to my dad's online XM account, so when I'm around I'll throw the show on.

i think it has to do with fez being down a bit, he usually started the pyramids if memory serves by bringing up some article and listing a few silly things about it, he doesn't seem to be doing as much show prep as he recovers

once he gets 100% better it'll start up again

Only one comedy pyramid ever worked on XM because you could build it with t-shirt and recycled blue collar jokes. It was gold though, "study shows obese women tend to eat more" pyramid.

Study shows that when obese women get into the bathtub, the toilet water rises.

I think they could be just taking a break from it .... Did anyone else notice that for the past two months, anyone named Tommy got through without a problem? All of the sudden it's back .... maybe it's their effort not to kill the bit? I miss the pyramids and maybe that's the point.

How can you build a pyramid without the callers calling in?

docgoblin

I remember they tried in vain to do pyramids when they started at XM, but the phones kept blowing up. After the phones were fixed they did one or two more then gave up on it. I don't think you'll hear them unless they get another local gig.

I miss Iris most of all. The last time she was on was during last year's show after the Roosevelt Island Tram got stuck. I guess it's hard to keep up that voice but she was a classic character. Anyone who hasn't heard Iris, go to the file library. There are quite a few of the old Iris bits from WNEW and WJFK. Side-splitting funny stuff...

As much as some people hate the WJFK era, at least their callers could get a decent pyramid going.

As for Iris, I always assumed that they dropped her because it didn't really make sense on XM. Why would Iris even have satellite radio? That poor old woman tried hooking up her typewriter to her TV to make a computer.

There were plenty of DC and NoVA callers during the overnight days, too, since we got the show live down there.

That made it even better when she called during the 'Tram Show.' She was confused as to why she couldn't hear the show anymore... Holding her toaster out the window to try and get them. It adds a little extra to the bit. Besides, they could have done it back on FreeFM if they had wanted to.

I was only in one comedy pyramid ever... Back around 2002. I don't remember the exact premise but my comment had something to do with Bush Sr & Jr both hating Iraq. I actually taped it on cassette when it aired, but the tape was ruined during basement flooding in 2005... I wish I could hear that one again... *sigh*
