Anyone have any advice where to meet new people? I moved to Dallas about a year ago and literally haven't met a soul and it is really starting to get to me. Any advice you can give would be appreciated...
Thank god I found R&F right as I moved to Dallas, or I would be going absolutely crazy by now.

Well, It Is Always Good To Find Others That Share Your Interests. Maybe There Are 5-10 People On RF.Net From Dallas And You Could Arrange A "Bar Night".

what do you do for fun bro? go to the places that sell those things and hang out to meet people
or, take some classes at a community college for fun in something you are interested in and see if there is anyone in there you might like, you can always drop them and get your money back if it is a bunch of cowboys fans

Get involved with group stuff....My brother is a true wallflower but his work has a kickball team and got to know people by doing that...
As for myself, I met friends through work, but joined a local civic organization and that helped out a bunch.
As far as being somewhere new, I always thought it takes about 1 year to get fully adjusted to a new city...you know the roads well, bars, etc. and your number of friends pick up too...
I once knew a guy in Dallas who was so interested in making friends that he would do over-the-top things to get people's attention...He worked at a book depository...had a rifle...hated kennedy....his name does escape me though....

Hit the high school functions...you can be the creepy old guy that scores booze for the hot 17 year old chicks....or try wearing a 49ers Jersey with CLARK on the back to your local sports bar on a fall Sunday; I'm sure you'd meet all sorts of interesting folks that aren't afraid to tell you what they reallt think.
Oh yeah. Did someone say their office had a kickball team? Sweet.

Try going to Gators if you like night clubs, or try Scuba Joes located inside of the Holiday Inn, Bedford. Amercan Airlines puts all their flight attendants up at that hotel that come in for training, it's usuallly hoppin'.
I have several friends that live there, but they are all gay men so you're probably not into the same scene.

I don't care for people.
I guess that's why I rarely leave the house.

As long as you aren't Irish Catholic, you'll fit right in.

I know exactly how you feel. When I moved to DC six months ago I didn't know a soul. It's tough.
The best places for me so far have been work, the gym, and the DC bar nights.
You should see if your school has an alumni chapter in Dallas. Mine has social functions every month or so. Also, my apartment has meetups every month or so as well. Maybe yours does too.
Also, I haven't tried this yet but I just learned about a website called meetup.com where you can go to find out about clubs that are meeting for a ton of different interests. They are always looking for new members.
