I can't remember the exact pier number, but the stage was on the west side, in the 40s. This was in the mid to late 80s. These shows were in conjunction with the shows at Jones Beach. I remember seeing Iggy Pop (Janes Addiction opened), The Smiths (they opened with "How Soon is Now"; what's the point?). I also saw the Monkees on their original reunion tour (hey-- the Monkees rocked in their day!). Why did they close the Concerts on the Pier? I liked going there better than the Jones Beach shows!

I saw both Van Morrison and Jimmy Buffett there.

I think its ridiculous that we have to go to either Jones Beach or to Holmdel, NJ to see good acts outside in the summertime. We're NYC dammit!

The weather up here is fine. Thank you for asking.

I went to many pier shows. They originally had them in Central Park, sponsored by Scahefer Beer, later by Dr. Pepper. Remember when WPLJ gave out the souvenir buttons?
By the way, I'm 6'6" tall..I have had many girls on my shoulders during those shows!;)
