View Full Version : Open letter to Earl

Earl,
I love you brother but you really shit the bed since the suspension started. Instead of showing the XM brass that the Ron&Fez can handle as well as deserves its own channel, all you did was show them that you can barely come up with enough material to fill 24 hours of programming. I would assume you have access to more old show material than i do. I compiled all the old shows on my PC and found that i have over 300 hours of old shows. With this material, i am farely certain that i could put more than that days show and a best of playing 4 times each. I applaud Pepper Hicks for his effort and he did great. What does it say about the executive producer when an intern can add more to the channel. I dont know what you do the other 21 hours a day but it obviously is not to think about how to help the show. This was our chance to open eyes and show that we were up to and could handle the challenge. Instead you struggled to keep the channel afloat. How do you sleep at night knowing that you take a paycheck?
Way to shit the bed once again Shabooty

do not forget even old WNEW shows still needed to be listened to all the way through very carefully not for cursing, but for content.

yeah, but it is listening to some 1/2-1 hour classic ron and fez bits, and picking out the 90%? that are acceptable for current satellite radio. where do i sign up for that job?
earl does live alone, and, as he said last week, is mostly a loner. he can listen while he eats dinner, walks the streets of nyc taking pictures of abercrombie fitch girls, or watches the yankee game on tv.

I realize I'm still new here, but from what I've seen, I gotta say I'm sick of the earl bashing(as well as the Dave bashing). None of us know for sure what these guys through, and for some guy to spend his time writing out a such a thought out "open letter" to earl just kind of seems sad to me. I love this god damn show, but really it's just a radio show, and while I'll support Ron or Fez bashing Earl all they want, for people that have absolutely nothing to do with the show to think that they know enough to say that Earl has ruined the show, just seems really fucking egotistical to me.
While, I'm sure he does fuck up a whole lot, until thousands of people of can go through your performance of how you do your job with a fine tooth comb, keep your holier that thou attitude to yourself, or at least just add to one of the other Earl bashing threads and don't start a whole new one.
I need to stop posting drunk, I think it might make me come off as an asshole.

i think drhester's post deserves more of a rebuttal than mine??
really i wasnt bashing earl, i was just saying that i think having to listen to classic RnF shows for content is a good job.

Dear Earl,
I will never forgive you for the fact that you have caused a situation in which Ron must wake up at the CRACK OF Dawn, 10am.
Sincerely,

Shouldn't all open letters start with 'Stop it! Just stop it!" and end with 'Consider it. Not a sermon, just a thought'?

My only question is how are the O&A gang able to always have best ofs that are properly done and ready to go and yet Earl can't do it.

Compare the size of the O&A staff with the Ron and Fez staff.

But Earl spends all of his free time in the studio. Hell, he could have come up with a couple of Best Of shows that first weekend. Then he could come up with the next day's shows while the one's he already did are running.
Sure he would have had to put in some extra work, but who doesn't when they want something to go right? I have put in plenty of "personal time" when I want a network transition to run right.

And another thought - why was it OK to voice opinions about Harry T. before he left and it's not OK regarding Earl?
Is it because Harry admitted he couldn't do the job right?
I'm not saying either is tactful, but in a free forum everybody has the right to voice their ideas. There are a lot of people who simply don't like Earl.

You know what I love is when people who don't know a thing about a subject presume they know enough based on what they HEAR on the air to tell someone how to do their job and also whether they do are doing a shitty job or not. None of us that I know of work in radio and for that matter know nothing about what is going on behind the scenes at XM yet a bunch of people feel it is in their perogative to tell Earl what he is doing wrong in his job.
Im sure that people are coming into "drhester" "Drs office" and telling him that they don't like how much salt he is putting on their fries. SHUT up and enjoy the show

I thought the producing duties were handed over to Pitz and Lily?
That was forced.
The interns and Ron had an on air meeting about having nothing to do because Earl and ESD were not using them effectively.
The interns stated that Earl would rarely even talk to them let alone allow their creative ideas be utilized.
This is going from memory from months back.
PS. I am a spine specialist yet I don't not flaunt the Dr. on public forums. Hint Hint.

Compare the size of the O&A staff with the Ron and Fez staff.
And why is his staff smaller? You think that's because XM just doesn't feel like giving it to Ron and Fez? If he needs more people HE SHOULD TELL SOMEONE he needs more people. I seriously doubt he would get shit on by Ron and Fezzie during the show if he was constantly telling ELo and JLo that he needed more people.

remember all, with Earl out that leaves Dave. And while all 5 year olds are loveable in their own way, non stop Dave would cause Ghandi to go into a rage. Besides, is Earl not the Iron Man of the Ron and Fez Producers?

I hate to quote myself from another thread, but:
How do you figure that [more Dave]? We have no idea what role Dave would play. Ron said on-air that he didn't think Dave would get the nod for E.P.
With somebody else in Earl's seat there is a greater chance they will get more time, not Dave. If anything, it could mean less Dave since he will have to step up his game behind the scenes to help with the transition.

except when you did right there. :-)
I dunno, I thought Earl did ok, once the constant-replays-of-the-same-show bugs were worked out. R&F do 3 hours a day, that's 8 replays/day. O&A did/do around 5 hours a day plus an hour of other material resulting in 4 replays/day. Earl had a lot to do, but I personally heard a lot of stuff I'd never heard before so I have to come down on Earl's side on this one.
XM was damned lucky to have someone to pick up the slack on 202. I miss hearing the boys 24/7 already. Do you think we may ever see Big Ass 203 after this?
