I see myself online all day and night, I only watch a few select things on TV. If my Direct TV goes down, I am a little Mad and May call after an Hor or 2 of No Tv. When My Internet connection is down, I am irrate, call right away and Very Angry until my internet connection is Back. I feel that the Internet is tops to the Television.

Ranking for me...
1. Internet
2. XM
3. TV
It ain't even second fiddle in my book. Although, I guess TV needs to be clarified as network TV.
I spend far more time online than watching TV.
I spend more time reading than watching TV.
I spend more time playing guitar than watching TV.
I spend more time listening to the radio than watching TV.
I'm not a big TV fan.

i think that's an unfair clarification. ok, xm only means the hitlist and 20 on 20 and the intenet only means yahoo. unneeded narrowing of the medium.

TV fucking blows and it has for years now. I catch little shit here and there but I haven't set aside time to catch a TV show for years now and I don't fucking miss the mindless bullshit at all.
Between talk radio and the internet, I am completely occupied and entertained.

Once I got broadband, I stopped watching TV. But then after being online all the time for a long time, watching Tv had a whole new magic to it. TV is unbeatable in the category of unactive entertainment, and can lurr you into a stupor unlike almost any other activity. Think about it, being online is so much work; clicking, typing, reading, looking carefully interpreting. Wouldn't you rather just sit in front of a set right now and let your body just shut down?
Not to mention the amount of time people spend online to enhance or supplement their tv watching experience (message boards, program listings, show websites, downloads, etc.)

TV has been lower than second fiddle for a while. Especially right now, since the few shows I do watch are on summer vacation.

Does anyone else get mad when thinking about how reliant on TV we are?

Last night I got home early and my internet was down, I called comcast and they said it's a known issue and they were working on it. So I lay down to watch TV and I'm out for the night at 10:30. I'm usually up till 4am cause of the computer. I slept 14 hours!

Not really, it's just another entertainment choice. If people enjoy it, good for them. I don't think I'm better than anyone by not watching TV, it just disappoints me and doesn't entertain me so I don't watch the thing.
Everyone passes the time doing something. TV is always there and a common choice to make. But the internet is still spreading and has way more ways to get content.

^^ What Moe Said (But Without The Profanity)^^.
Talk Radio (Especially Call-In Radio) And The Internet Are Both Interactive Media, So The User Is Much More Involved. The TV Is Only On At Fat's House To Provide Background Noise When He's On The Internets!

I just see it as kind of a decay. I watch TV, but it is fucking awful. I'm not trying to be cool for the room or whatever, but it just seems like most people come home from work, turn on the TV, and their free time completely revolves around it. That's what my parents do. Every time I go to their house, the TV is on. When I was a kid, we hardly ever watched TV, but we read a lot. I don't think my mom has read a book in 12 years or so. I dunno, something seem wrong with that to me.

I have a Mac Mini connected to my TV. I have a TiVo. There is absolutely nothing I want to watch on tv these days. If I find something I want to watch, I can download it and marathon an entire season in a couple days. If my TiVo snags a movie I want to watch, I can hit that too. But I'm usually using the tv as background noise at the computer.
