At risk of turning this site into a popularity contest, is there any way something could be added to posts so that when you read a particularly funny comment you could give it a thumbs up or something? The results could then be tallied to form some kind of automatic comedy pyramid.

It does just turn into a popularity contest, and I do not like the whole idea behind it. I think it works well on a site like slashdot because it is more group moderation based on content, but this is not that type of site. what you wind up with is a site like digg.com where people spam message boards to get their stories moved up the ranks
