Stern has become a complete bore. He takes every dime he can from his fans and gives them awful radio. He basically treats the listeners like crap (off every Friday, 17 weeks of vacation, don't put my videos on the internet or I'll sue, etc...). I lost all respect for the man after Billy West and Jackie left the show.

I try to listen to the whole O&A show. I miss tiny parts here and there.
Then I usually miss a good chunk of R&F because I'm running around doing things at work, then when I get home I never feel like putting on any replays.
I havent listened to Stern since the August before O&A first came to XM (because thats when I got my XM setup). So about 3 years ago.

Stern actually had Pam Anderson on the other day.
I thought I was listening to a replay from the early 90's.
Why is she in any way relevant ?
Because she's done a DirectTV commercial ?
And as always he was kissing her ass.
He's such a loser.
I heard an interesting Bubba show the first weekend they were on Sirius and in the handful of times I've listened since it's been awful.

Pam was on Conan last night, too. I guess he gets a pass though.
Pam is part of a magic act that takes place in Vegas, so she was promoting that.

I always admit that i grew up listening to stern. I am not going to ever bash on him and i am not a sheep listening to OandA but i could really care less about Stern. I am interested in hearing though, that someone listens to that much radio a day. Stern, OandA, and RandF is about 3455 hours a day.

i loved stern's show growing up, but what does that have to do with not bashing the show he's putting out today? if you like his current show, fine, but if you don't why would you let past allegiance to his show sway your comments today?

I got bored with Stern when he was still on terrestrial, babbling about a Hollywood party and talking about how great seeing a chick's tits would be for the 10,000th time. Switching from saying "boobs" to saying "tits" isn't quite that exciting for me. I found his show boring and repetitive when I was 15, ditto his E! show.
While I complain about O+A, a lot, I really do find Stern duller than Imus.

There is no possible way that anyone saying this has heard an entire show since he went to sat. It has been off the charts funny. Even if you don't like Howard, the antics of Sal and Richard and Artie's life dramas are hilarious Even recently Artie and Robin have been going at each other viciously. I feel sorry for the people missing out on this shit because they choose the wrong side on a dopey radio war 6-7 yeas ago. As Ron has said in the past "Funny is funny". Life is too short not to be entertained. Ron and fez are funny. Stern's show is the funniest it has ever been, surpassing the Billy West years. O and A are in choppy waters right now. All facts.

Well how can I argue with zaniness of Sal the Stockbroker. Damn my choice.
Fact: Despite my complaints I still enjoy O+A greatly every single day. So seriously, don't feel sorry for me. I'm getting something I like, as tragic as it might be.
Fact: I got bored with Howard years ago, long before he switched to satellite, even before O+A came to terrestrial.
Fact: I chose O+A instead of Stern not because of a radio war but one show consistently entertained me while the other show made me ho-hum.
Have I listened to an entire show of Stern since he went to satellite? No but I have heard bits, none of which entertained me. I know how tragic this might seem to you but if a show loses me 10 years ago for being repetitive and boring, can you really blame me not wanting to return to it 10 years later because he can say shit and Artie gets drunk?

Stern wasn't impressing me before he left, why would I follow him to satellite? You'd think he would be pulling out all the stops to lure people to Sirius, but he was doing the same show over and over again.
No thanks, you can have it. If you enjoy it, then it's worth your money. Just don't be all pissed when a majority of people tell you we don't listen anymore and haven't been listening for most of the last decade.

If I thought Stern was funny, I would listen to him. He just bores me. The worst part of his show to me, at least now, is that he jsut seems bored (has for a long time). This and the fact that whenever I even HEAR Robyn (sp?) speak I get angry. She has neer cotributed one thing to the show and has to have to most affected speech pattern in radio, on par with Mancow.

Ok, I don't have Sirius and can't listen to Stern, but since there is so much support for the humor value of Stern right now, I'm putting this out there. If a Stern listener would like to take a 10-15 segment - a contiguous segment, not a 10-15 minute best of - and upload it somewhere or send it to me, I want to hear it. I want to hear what is so funny that I missing.
If anyone wants to join in this with me, they are welcome to, but your comments have to try to not bring your bias into this experiment and honestly see how entertaining you find it.
And to admit it before the experiment, I am a former Stern fan who lost interest in Stern about 4 years ago. I was still listening to Stern when he was fighting with O&A and thought that Stern was great when he divorced Allison, but got boring when he got into a relationship with Beth.

This is a GREAT idea. I too am an Ex-Stern fan, but I lost interest in him long before Justjon did. At least a year or 2 earlier.
I am not a mindless drone following O&A's orders, Stern showed me what following one radio personality gets you. It gets you lied to and punked out.
I want to hear this "reviatlized" Stern myself too. I will keep as open a mind as I can. Bring us a "gem" section of one of his live shows as Jon put forth and we will judge it.

Death Metal is a lot like your mother then.
I know Fred is still playing those fucking 8 tracks because they were using the old "Hey Now!" and "Baba Booey!" and all the shit with Howie's father yelling at him for the entire time I was a fan from the early 90's up until his stale show drove me away to talent, like Ron and Fez and O&A.

Actually, I was a big Stern hater up until he came to Sirius....I always thought that there is only so much conversation about farting, lesbians and boobs that I could take but maybe its the move to Sirius, but its genuinely funny....
I will say this as well...I will probably be dumping Sirius and going only with XM shortly because of Stern, as funny as that sounds...While the show is genuinely hilarious in spots, I am tired of the endless rants and ridiculing of Republican, Christians, Conservatives as I am all three...I have a sense of humor but if you are going to go on endless idiotic rants about politics and ridicule anyone with a difference of opinion, I dont want to hear it...I dont know if Stern has always been this political but its really turned me off....I prefer that way Ron and Fez approach these subjects to anything Stern does...

But seriously, I do want to hear what I'm missing. Even though he's apparently become the funniest man ever yet goes on rants about Republicans/conservatives/Christians (like Sorkin on that dreadful Studio 60 show which I keep watching) so much that his biggest fan seems willing to drop him.

I'm not saying Stern is funnier, but I am a listener. Ron & Ron/Ron & Fez, were always my favorites.
Actually I never heard a Stern radio show until I moved to Louisville in 2003 and that lasted about 6 months before he was yanked permanently. My first exposure to him was his WOR show and then later his E show.
I never record Stern, but I did on Monday because he had Michael Moore in studio. This isn't his best material, but it is all I have, so feel free to give it a listen.

I listen to Stern on Sirius and skip O & A, listen to Ron and Fez in the afternoon and skip Bubba on Sirius...anyone else have similar listening tastes?
My tastes are almost identical.

All facts.
I do hear all the time that the stern show has never been funnier. most of my closest friends listen on sirius and are liking this show mostly. i just wish i could get R&F and stern on one service.

i wouldn't get your hopes up ... the show is at the same level as the last years at krock - except the pacing is a lot more relaxed
the real highlights are the phone calls / songs that richard and sal create ... what they're able to do with captured audio is pure genius
if anyone's interested. i'll try to figure out how to get a few files up over the weekend
I agree with the phone calls, they are god damned hilarious. laughed pretty good at the ones i heard when i listened a couple months ago.

Wow just finished reading this thread. Seriously, what is with all the bull sh!t from some people on this board? Attacking for no reason. I like stern. No, its not god-like funny every second of every minute. But its generally better than O&A in my opinion. Ever take a 1 minute clip from O&A show and actually listen to how boring it can be? Each show has funny moments. I listen to both channel 202 shows everyday. Ron and fez > Stern > O&A.

The irritating thing is that I never claimed it was god-like funny...that was from someone hear who got very defensive at just the mention of Stern...I did not realize mentioning Howard here would illicit such a reaction....Yes, the Sirius show has tons of funny moments but I am just sick of the political crap at this point...I believe there is less of that on Ron and Fez, at least for me there is so I am probably going to drop Sirius and go with XM only....I have the feeling if I was switching from apples to oranges and posted here about that choice, I would still be attacked...very strange...

i think it was the jab at death metal. there was no need to throw that out unless trying to instigate a fight. it had zero to do with the topic at hand.

I'm not 8 years old, not trying to instigate anything. I was reading this thread just like any other, and thats what I saw.

Yeah stern speaks BS most of the time. I like some of the bits/topics they do with other people more than stern himself. he can get some good guests.

Gee, your earlier post indicated you dont listen to stern...How would you have any friggin idea what Freds carts are like? As a listener, I will tell you undeniably you are wrong...and DeathMetal blows..

Jesus Christ guys! You all must realize that everyone has different tastes - why argue about it? I HATE O&A, have never heard Stern in my life, and LOVE R&F. I dont try to tell everyone that loves o&a that they should drop them, i just flip channels when they come on. its easy.

Stern will always hold a place in my heart since he was there first. By the time Stern was done with K-Rock I was done with him, for all the reasons mentioned in the past by tons of people. Listened to his Sirius show via stolen downloads (go ahead sue me) and it was definaley better now then the last days of k-Rock, but still no where near the West/Jackie day's.
O&A were great but I started to feel like the show was just being done for 20 hardcore fans toward the end of the NEW days, but still enjoyed them. Today they are starting to sound like HOO HOO during his final years on K-Rock (Cant do this, cant do that...). Ironic since they ragged him for the same thing.
R&F were always consistantly funny and entertaining. Thats why I like to post on this board and not "others" since the R&F show seemed more opened minded, with openminded fans.

I gave it a listen and wether you like it or not probably depends on how you feel about Moore. I didn't think it was a bad interview, aside from the bits with the angry shouting.

It was great having all R&F 24 hours a day:) I find myself turning the dial a lot more once again. If it wasnt for the watered down censored show, there might be a chance to enjoy it:(

I think that interview was interesting, but not in the top 100 things that have happened since the switch.I don't have anything downloaded(I listen in the car and it replays about 59 times a day), but I will look to see if anyone has any good stuff. I agree with the those who say Bubba isn't that good, he's not. He is still better than any show that was on FREE fm, besides R and F. I think he is pretty much the equivalent of O and A. He's trying to get dopes to buy into his bullshit that he is the best invention since the tampon string.
Like I said, I've tried to listen to O and A several times. They contradicted themselves more in the last six months than Stern did in twenty five years. They love Mainelli, they hate Mainelli. Free FM is great, we are happy to have music back. We are kicking ass, we might lose some affiliates soon.Howard is a dick, Opie-"How about it Howard?". All radio guys are douchebags, we should all band together against censorship. Xm are asses for censoring us, if we lose the terrestrial gig we'll be just as happy being on sat. We can do the same show on FM minus the curses, the lawyers are killing us. All Howard did was complain about the censorship, we didn't realize how bad the censorship has gotten on regular radio. We'll never apologize like Imus, we apologize. They must be real full from eating all those words.

i thought I was the only one who noticed this.
I was getting pretty annoyed last week when Opie was ripping on Manelli for being "passive aggressive" as he called it, but then he's on the phone within 5 minutes discussing his email. Opie acted like nobody in the history of the world uses email as a form of communication to say something that they might not have time to schedule a face to face meeting. Geez, the guy had some things to say and emailed O&A. Thats normal. Hypocrisy times 10. Many of the email had valid points, IMO.

I used to listen to Stern when he was on K-ROCK but have only heard clips of his Sirius show on YouTube before most were taken down (if you wonder why I didn't do a free trial... I'm just not that invested) and obviously it isn't the same deal. Fact is, Stern's gotten older and he's lost his drive. The man's not hungry anymore and doesn't have a thing to prove b/c he's been and done all. So if the show is lackluster on Sirius, it doesn't surprise me.
What does surprise me a bit is when I hear that he's used his recently found freedom to just up the naked chick thing to riding Sibians and such. All the hype he put out before moving to satellite was about freedom to do more than that (or at least my naivete made me believe that.) I never expected him to stop what he'd been doing before. I just thought he'd do other things. I mean, how many roasts can he do?
I thought the way to keep a show- any show- alive is to keep reinventing it. R&F have done that, which is why they stay fresh and entertaining. But if most people think Stern's show has actually gotten stagnant, then that's unfortunate because he had a real opportunity in moving to Sirius.

The Sybian thing is old news. They barely bring it out and it was more for Howard TV( Of which I could care less about). The only people saying he's gotten old and lost his drive are his competitors(wishful thinking). They do 4 shows a week from 6-11 and it is packed(with less then 10 minutes of commercials per hour). He lets some of the other guys do more stuff, because his ego has actually shrunk over the years. Artie talks on the air more than Robin now and Fred talks quite a bit too. He's not friggin Imus. They do some stuff that is clearly for TV, but that has always been annoying(even during the E years). They curse alot more on sat.,more than I thought they would. But for sheer entertainment, it is equivalent to the pre-movie years.

I have to say for a good long while howard really was the "cats ass" ; he lost it to quick with his doom and gloom stuff and the show got bad. Damn it got bad. Time moves on, found O&A and from them Ron and Fez.
ANd from ROn and Fez I have found the Black Rock Coalition. http://sfherald.com/columnists/gold/images/living_color1.jpg
