Can someone please check with the state of NY or the city of NY to confirm that a marriage license has been put on file for these two and it's an actual legal document?

Someone should be able to get it from the public records file or some such in order to prove this wedding is real and not a WWE style event.

Fucking brilliant idea.

Here's what I sent to the editor:

To Whom This May Concern:

Recently on the Ron and Fez radio program on channel 202 on XM satellite radio had the conclusion of a month long radio bit which culminated in an on air 'wedding' between the producer of the show and a listener, given names on the radio as David McDonald and Casey Elan. The wedding happened around 2pm on June 21, 2007 at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City.

Proof of this is where I am requesting your assistance. For all of the time and effort the listeners have put into this potential ploy I feel it necessary to uncover the truth. We have been listening for a month now and hearing all about the great plans. I fear that it may have been fake in order to get more listeners onto the station. During today's broadcast the wedding ceremony may have been a way to keep listeners tuned into the station in order to drive up ad revenue and to help XM's numbers as it faces growing loses and scrutiny over it's merger with Sirus radio. It may have also been used to drive business to the bride's father's wheelchair business in a way to get around needing to pay radio advertisement fees as it was featured often in a joking fashion.

If a marriage certificate or license can be presented then we have nothing to worry about and the stock holders do not need to feel like this was used as a way to inflate the prices of their investments, a potentially illegal activity.

Thank you for your help or guidance as to where we, the listeners, can uncover the truth.

We must learn the truth.

Yeah but we listen, we hear the ads, and then we go out and buy the products. How many millions of dollars have funneled into Casey's dad's company because of the free plugs he's gotten? Or how many ad breaks have we had to sit through in order to hear what comes next in the show? We could have tuned away but were locked in because we were promised a real wedding. This money could have then been kicked back to people on air as a gift, it's like how back in the day record companies used coke and whores to get their music played, except this is much more shifty, IF the wedding is false. If its real then its all fine, but that's what they need to do for us as listeners. How many poeple would have canceled if there was no wedding? Millions of listeners may have held onto their subscriptions just to hear the end of this radio bit, the couldn't cancel in the past few weeks because they had to know how it ended. THat is where the subscription number may come into play.

Oh, can you please the find the marriage bureau for the town of Salem also? John Black and Dr. Marlena Evans have been married, torn apart by presumed deaths, reunited, and married again so many times that now I am not certain if THEIR last marriage was real or not.

ummm, "I will" is perfectly acceptable as part of a vow, I've seen it used before. Its the marriage license and signature of witnesses that makes a marriage legal, not the semantics of "I do" vs. "I will" in vows that do not legally need to be pronounced out loud in the state of NY.

Conspiracy Alert

Had a good friend of mine get 'married' here in South Florida in a big ceremony and then get license and married within hours of hitting Vegas legally on their honeymoon. Where was Dave and Casey's honeymoon BTW?

i don't know aboot dawn cumia, anthony's sister, but when i was getting married the priest told us that if we didn't get a marriage certificate for whatever reason he could perform the ceremony but would have to let everyone know it wasn't an official ceremony. don't know if that was a legal thing or a religious thing, but it came across as a legal issue.

OK -

Some of you say 'so what if its a bit'?

Here's what - I love Ron and Fez, but why lie to us? Can you not do something funny that isn't trying to trick your listeners? Yes, there are other things they lie to us about - but common - to but 1/2 of your shows for the last month on something that's not real? sigh.

We listen, and are loyal - day after day - I just have such a problem with radio hosts that like to their listeners in order to be entertaining - The only reason I have XM anymore is because of Ron and Fez -

Yes, taking this too seriously, and maybe this is a topic for Wackbag, but come on - Fess up - this is SO not real

Yes, the wedding was real. Yes, I am registered with the City of NY to officiate weddings. Yes, I was ordained as a Reverend from the Universal Life Church in July of 2005. That allows me to marry people anywhere, but certain cities (like NYC) have additional registration steps involved. I actually completed the NYC registration yesterday (had to cut out of work early to do it). Yes, there is a real license. It has to get mailed to the City Clerks office tomorrow morning. It's sitting next to my computer as I type.

It was my first wedding ever, and I was overwhelmed and surprised by how much I enjoyed officiating. And I am honored that Dave and Casey had me marry them. It was an incredible experience, and a great day for everyone.... and The Art of the Topless rocked the d-sippers, too....

Is that the one where you can sign up online and just have to pay a fee to officially marry people? I don't say this in a bashing way, I just remember we ordained the Reverend Vodka Funnel in college because that's what stupid guys in fraternities do when they're in college and the Universal Life Church sounds familiar.

yeah that's the one. My sister was married by her husbands best friend, and he to was ordained by the Universal Life Church. I don't think you have to pay just to be ordained, but you do have to pay something to be able to marry people.

Even though I still laugh when I think of some of your posts in the Ronfez.net "O&A Fired?" thread, you did a really good job today. Listening to it, it sounded like you really turned around the day to a serious thing and I am sure the respective fam's liked that. It was very well written. Also it sounded like everyone got silent once you got going and that kept those lovely "pests" from doing something stupid.

Well that's that. The conclusion to this that we all needed, thanks for posting. How much do you charge do to weddings? I'll pay you a day's wages to do mine next year.

Thanks to everyone who stood by and questions authority and did not just take what we were told at face value. It's people like you who helped stop slavery, people like you who questions what what they were given that helped stop the spread of the nazis and communism across the globe, you're the kind of people that revolted against England during the revolution. We did a good job and should be proud.

To Dave and Casey: Rock on. I hope you adopt many babies from Africa and China and have a wonderfully multi cultural household.

IS IT?!

Is it really?

Caseyelan
06-22-2007, 09:15 AM

No. They only release those records to certain people until they're 50 years old. Then anyone can get them. You can find out more here: http://nycmarriagebureau.com/

Dawn just mailed it in today from Suffolk so I'm sure it won't get processed until next week sometime. Dawn has to keep a copy of it so we have one but it doesn't have the City Clerk's stamp on it.

Before this can of worms gets reopened, it was a real, legit, legal wedding. You, too, can become a legally recognized Marriage Officiant. Just click HERE (http://ulchq.com/ordination.htm) to see how easy it really is.
