Does anyone have Ron's first rant about Mike North where he picks up the accent and screams about being from "sHI KAH GOE?" I would love the audio of that, one of my favorite bits.

stupid FIBs.

Wait, I totally missed this. Ron did a MIKE NORTH impression?

That's like Jimmy Kimmel doing an East Side Dave impression. Totally out of left field.

It's funny, but I've noticed that Ron has an anti Chicago thing, back to the JFK days. I think it's an East Coast thing. (Philly's East Coast for sure, right?) I grew up in Chicago, so I'm biased, but you never hear New York, Boston or Philly people ever say anything good about Chicago. I don't know why, and I'm not doing the whole Second City thing. It just is.

Ron has been talking about how, in their two weeks off, he'll end up in Chicago.

And its not an anti-Chicago thing, its an anti-Midwest thing. You're basically the same as Milwaukee to us on the East Coast.

OK, Ron doing an impression of Mike North is something I need to hear. I hate, hate, HATE, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate Mike North with a burning passion that makes the ladies and gents swoon as I pass.

Second, Ron, quit hating on my hometown. I know it's because Philly food is just crappy, watered down versions of the wonderfully atery-clogging delicacies we've made famous out this way.

That's some weak fucking sauce. I've been to hack 'burgs like Milwaukee and St. Louis...Chicago is a fucking classic CITY that doesn't deserve to be lumped in with the likes of them.

Yeah, alright, a couple of things, sporto.

I graduated from high school in 1983 in Connecticut, and I've been living in Queens NY for the past 12 years, and I'm not quite sure why you feel so comfortable flying that "East Coast is superior to the Midwest" attitude you're coping. I mean, you're from BOSTON. There's really no reason to be in Boston if you've already graduated college. Really...no...nothing.

And ease up on Milwaukee. I LIKE Milwaukee. It's a real town with a beautiful lakefront and it's in Wisconsin, the most underrated state in the United States (when I'm done with this response, I'm starting a "most underrated state" thread).

Boston is NOT underrated. It's old, tired, and riding on history that nobody gives a fuck about anymore. It hasn't produced a good band since the Del Fuegos. The traffic stinks and you're responsible for Ben Affleck.

So get off your high stinkin horse, Southie!

Alice Cooper taught me everything I need to know about Milwaukee. I see no need to ever go there.

Seriously though, I don't think it's a bad place...I just think it's ridiculous to compare it and Chicago as if they're the same city in terms of scope and size alone.

How could you not like Boston? From the blatant racism, to the really, really, really old buildings that are falling apart, the shitty traffic, and every third guy being named Sully, its so great.

I was kidding with the Chicago/Milwaukee thing, but most cities from the midwest just seem to have no character at all. Plus, when I think of the midwest, the first city that pops in my mind is Cleveland. And I've actually been to Cleveland. *shiver*

Dude, you did it again and now you've actually put me in the position of defending Cleveland. And here goes:

Nobody in Cleveland would EVER do that "*shiver*" thing that you just did, AND Harvey Pekar lives in Cleveland, which makes it twice as cool as Boston. I don't know how else to say this, Skippy: Nobody is impressed with Boston except deluded people from Boston. It's not great shakes. It's Dullsville with bad public construction. Boston is partially responsible for 9/11. Boston is fucked up fakey fake lock jaw George Plimpton, and he's dead.

So stop trying to make Boston better than other cities. It isn't. Except Gary, Indiana, and that's not something you want to put in a brochure.

((ooc: Milwaukee and Chicago both have a lot of really cool history and character of their own. Out here we all think of NYC as smelling like urine and dangerous as hell. The irony of that, however, is Chicago, Boston, NYC all have a lower violent crime per capita rate than Milwaukee. The place is a cesspool. Earl would get eaten alive. i honestly don't think most east coasters even think aboot chicago, or other midwest towns. not an attack, but there's no bias. i've heard nothing but good spoken of chicago but it just never comes up unless someone's just been there.

i also don't think boston's so bad but i don't think it's special either. personally, i love the history shit, but other than that it's just a smaller version of nyc. that's just my opinion, and i've also never had a bad time there.
